Went in at lunch time so perhaps missed out on the evening atmosphere. The staff were friendly and the food was good (only had the cheesy chips), the price was right as well. Only thing that stops it getting 5/5 was the time it took for two cheesy chips to be brought out. Other than that would certainly recommend to others.

Beautiful garden and cheap beer make this one of the go to summer pubs in the area.Drags itself back to the crowd in the winter sadly. Modern conservatory rather sterile and chilly but at least allows views of said garden. Main room tries to be cozy but fails due to the large open area between the front door and the bar. If it was busy enough for people to stand in this bit then it would be fine, but it rarely is. Instead there seems to be a custom for people to queue for the bar in single file. No idea why and somewhat non traditional!Finally the toilets! Extraordinarily spacious as they are in an old cloakroom I believe.Despite the criticism this is a true hidden gem (for non-postgrad/lecturer types at least) for 4 months of the year.Good selection of cask and draft beers, the former at bargain prices.

My sister hired the pub for a wedding reception and it was wonderful. The staff went above and beyond to help us out, everyone raved about how friendly they were. The BBQ was solid food with great vegan options. There's a lovely beer garden and inside is cozy and was perfect for my sister's wedding day. Thank you team!

Well-kept wide range of beer from a range of mostly local breweries. Various proper cider kegs usually on too. Decent standard food. Staff friendly and relaxed
