A very centrally located hotel. Brilliant for our visit to a show at the city hall. Less than a 5min walk. Breakfast was very good. Some of the cooked items could have been a bit hotter. Also a ceiling panel missing from the ceiling left exposed pipes and cables. Not really a problem but would have expected better for a Mercure. Would definitely stop again though.

Our stay was for 2 nights for a weekend getaway.Arrived and checked in okay with my wife however I found myself having to ask a lot of questions as to where everything is and times of things rather than below told.Room okay, I felt it was a bit basic for the price, and the TV was extremely limited, many channels not working, freeview channels would of sufficed but was the bare basic channels.Heading from our room to the Spa we had to walk through a corridor with a conference in our spa gowns as we were having treatment, the conference was in full swing, it was not fair to them nor us.Pool area bit run down, and over occupied, if its to be that busy they should consider offering 1 hours slots. Also considering I paid a fair amount for the spa there was no complimentary tea or coffee, nor ordering something from the bar, very disappointing.Bar wise, not a single beer or cider on draft, (not one), very dis satisfying to see just bottles, I appreciate not everywhere has cellars but plenty of bar room to put on a guest Ale or Cider out a keg or box, no excuse for a hotel that is supposedly quality.Dinner on the first night was awful, lack of staff, those that were there were underdressed for the occasion to say the least and checking their mobile phones. Tables not laid (no wine glasses, candle, flowers, anything) just cutlery, it looked nothing like the advertised picture which was a factor in booking. Seriously I could only compare it to a motorway service station type set up. Second night some improvement and there was a manager on duty we complained to.No direct access to walk from the hotel as advertised to the tropical gardens, so had to walk out in the cold and rain and in the main entrance of the gardens. The downstairs does look nice but unfortunately beyond the looks of the lobby this is nothing like a 4 star hotel. Customer service partially at dinner extremely poor which is why I need to give this a low rating. I hope one day this hotel will turn its self around, it does have potential. I am not a mean rater on things but unfortunately on balance the negatives far out do the positives, especially when the cost of the stayed is factored in.

Potential to get a 4 or 5 but for only a couple things.very nice room, enjoyed the gym and the spa too.The breakfast had decent selection, but unfortunately the cooked items were cold especially hash browns and beans which was a let down. Not a great selection for vegans for evening meal / breakfast but there were a few items.overall a lovely experience and we will hope to come again.

It's a beautiful hotel. The room we stayed in, the privilege room was nice and well decorated and clean. The bathroom was really clean. Towels and bathrobe were provided, clean and of good quality. There were tea and coffee and complimentary drinks and a bottle of chardonnay provided. The bed was big and very comfortable. Breakfast was good with plenty options...cereals, bread, fruits, egg, bacon, etc. Coffee, tea and juice all available. We used the spa facilities and they were nice. The steam room, sauna, pool were good. We enjoyed ourselves tremendously. The staff were professional and helpful. The only point of complaint is that there was no intercom in our room and even when we went to the reception to ask for, none was provided. None the less, we will stay again.

The location for this hotel is fab! Every where is walking distance, right in the middle with lots of restraints at your door, the downstairs lobby is beautiful but my room was slightly dated, the bed I wasn’t very comfy as could feel the springs and was really bouncy, the bathroom was great as there was a shower and a bath in there!! I loved that, room felt sound proof wasn’t noisy at all. Over all the size of the room was really quite big which was really nice. The house keeping staff was lovely but the bar tender wasn’t very talkative or responsive as we ordered our drinks she just didn’t reply just walked off and done them without a word … which was like oh okay. Over all I had a good stay thank you.
Hello
The hotel location is perfect, right near lots of restaurants and not far from the train station. We used the swimming pool which was nice as it wasn't too cold, and the various steam rooms were great. We were given two complentary drinks at the bar which is always appreciated! The room itself was large with a good view of the winter gardens and very quiet. The only issue was how warm the room was, especially considering we stayed in January; I wouldn't like to stay in the summer. The air con was on full blast all night but it was still too hot. Apart from that we had a great stay!

I booked a Privilege Room Via Secret Escapes for my wife's birthday as we had a rare night out without the kids. We were upgraded to a suite (very nice I thought) as they were out of PRs so we ended up with room 333. Unfortunately there was a constant noise that came from the bathroom which only became apparent in the early hours of the morning. This meant that I was pretty much awake from 2am. Otherwise everything was OK but again I found the breakfast quite disappointing. Despite plenty of staff being around they didn't ask us what drinks we would like or give us any Instructions as to what was where. And it was quite cold too. Another couple were actually complaining about their breakfast but we couldn't be bothered. For the price (considering we got a discount) I wouldn't stay again.

Absolutely spot on! Staff were so helpful, friendly and efficient. The hotel is one of the best I've stayed in. Great, central location and lovely views of the Winter Gardens from one of the restaurants. Lyceum is yards away. The spa is superb! Lovely large pool, sauna, steam room, aromatherapy room, specialist hot and ice showers. I will be back!
