angel in Wakefield

Had a meal today at ;inch time with friends at the Angel Inn. Pub was busy with many dinners which is always a good sign which was confirmed by the quality of the food. Large portions of excellent quality, well prepared and pipping hot, all at a bargain price. We had both a main course and sweet all served in a timely manner. The staff were very helpful even to the extent I made an error in the oder of one sweet which was promptly changed without question. Pleasant atmosphere with large car park, highly recommended.

Like it here, pub grub, they have some good deals too. Had between us, a sharing starter, hunters chips and mixed grill. Really nice.

Just picked my xc90 up. Lovely staff explain everything to you. Love the dogs. Great place will definitely recommend this play to family and friends.

Poor quality food. Waited over 45 minutes and I shouldn’t have bothered. I ordered a chickless burger. The 2 pieces of burger were over cooked , very hard and crunchy with no taste. There seemed to be nothing that resembled a chicken alternative filling. The burger had 1 slice of tomato and 1 piece of lettuce. It was miserable. The ‘seasoned fries’ were certainly not seasoned with anything you could actually taste. Very disappointed and poor value. Would not recommend this pub for food and certainly will not be back for a return visit.

Fantastic food, service swift and reasonably priced

Visited twice in 1 month both times there was low on food, no chicken wings, onion rings etc. The staff just sit around eating. The service is very slow. One member of staff (slim woman) extremely rude. Blatantly ignores customers. Alot off people walked out with a refund on the last visit as they was waiting too long for there food. Such a shame as the pub and food is really nice.

Everyone is always friendly and the prices are well decent. Food has never let us down either. Always cooked just right and such a bargain!

Friendly staff Ultimate sharer Its a good starter pack for 2 people. Beef lasagne very tasty, had rich flavour aswell chicken wings. Big Pints for cheap price. Will come back for more 😊👍

Lovely evening meal with our best friends,-great food, drinks and plenty of laughs.

I was very close to saying "it's ok, you can welcome us, do not hesitate to approach us, we are humans, born and bred in this planet ... and we come in peace". The welcomer didn't manage to force herself to smile, not a very good start indeed. Food arrived exactly 40 minutes from the point of ordering, too slow in my view, quick glance and other customers were also getting a bit restless and twiddling their thumbs. The gammon skillet was glorious, and the cheese and bacon was delicious. Nice pub inside and out, decor was nice, apart from Samantha and one other, other members of the team need to loosen up a bit and enjoy what they are doing. If you are happy or miserable, we can see it in your face and bodily gestures. Motorway was congested and alternative route brought us here which gave us a little respite from the long journey southbound. CCTV in parking area.
