Jacobean Pub in Wakefield

Not worth the money I asked for a medium rare stake and it was well done never coming back again 😡

Lovely meal Sunday roast beef was lovely plenty on only had small which was plenty lovely staff so friendly lovely place

Was a bit cramped for seating 6 people food was OK, plates could have been hotter to keep food hot while eating.

Very nice steak was so tender it was beautiful

Not eaten at the Rogerthorpe for a few years. Lots of food good hearty meal but Steak pie wasn’t as good as I remember, Pastry was heavy and couldn’t tell if it was meant to be short crust or suet? The gravy didn’t taste like natural meat gravy tasted like strong gravy granules. The vegetables unappetising.

The Jacobean restaurant really is just a PUB.We were asked to order our food and drinks at the bar and PAY IN ADVANCE.The starters were not as described on the menu and little taste with a side garnish of limp salad.The mushroom Madeira was just a bowl of creamed mushrooms and NOT served with soda bread.The waitress didn't even bother to ask whether or not everything was ok when clearing away the starters.Things really didn't get any better as my "sizzling" steak sandwich was flat cold as was the dubiously named tuna "melt".Again on leaving, the waitress didn't ask if we enjoyed our meal, in fact she didn't say a word despite being stood less than a foot away.Expensive but very poor food and service........ I've had better take aways.

We haven't been here since covid hit us all so we we're surprised that they had stopped doing carverys so we had the Sunday roast which had all the elements of a carvery but still enjoyed it xx

Excellent food very hot, and such polite staff

Waiting for an hour for one course isn't acceptable. When questioned about how long we have waited and queried how other people who sat down after us had their food before us us I was supplied with the answer their food is quicker to cook! I didn't realise 2x gammon 1x mixed grill and a lamb rump took that long 🤷‍♀️It's a shame because inside is very nice.
