Lovely pub, great beer and staff were really nice. It was nice to sit in the sunshine on the common. But the rule that they have about not being able to eat outside is really stupid and that's the only reason for 2 star. We didn't want to sit in the stuffy conservatory or the dark pub when it was lovely outside. Who doesn't love a burger and beer in the sunshine! It was a Wednesday afternoon, not busy and we got told we can't eat outside even if we moved from the common to the beer garden.

Beautiful food and setting. Surrounded by green fields so it was lovely to sit on the pic nick bench in the sunshine. Conservatory light and airy.

Lovely traditional pub. Genuinely friendly staff. You're garuanteed a warm welcome. Sundsy belly pork roast was just the right size portion and tasted great. Highly recommend.

Great local pub, Grade II listed building, lovely view and surroundings. Good walks around the area and dogs also allowed in certain rooms. Seating available inside and out. Good selection of drinks available (Ossett Brewery), restaurant now open, but call ahead to check serving times. Quiz nights are now back on, every Tuesday night at 8pm with complimentary food. Check website for prize(s), I think it's a gallon of ale.

Great original pub, perhaps a victim of its own success so very crowded. The beer is great, no food today because of staff shortages, I suppose this is going to be the norm for a good while yet!

Lovely pub. Indoors is traditional (small and quirky rooms) but great outdoor space with great service (we didn't have to wait to order drinks - we got asked frequently).Menu is limited but the food is good (although nothing special).

Newly re-opened after the second Covid lockdown, it was a delight to see so many happy faces enjoying the Spring sunshine in the ample seating areas. Table service only, unless it was a bottle you were after, and a bit of a wait, but we chose to sit and chat. Why not!

A Takeaway menu is available. We stopped here while doing a walk and shared a fish butty and chips WOW. Absolutely amazing. Fresh fried fish and a super soft barm. What I think were triple cooked chips.....awesome. some tartar sauce.....delicious. Very friendly and welcoming. There was a steady flow of people of which some sat in their cars eating while looking over the common.

It's a lovely old pub set in a great location. Excellent real ales but the food let it down. Overcooked duck and pork steaks. The steak pie filling was delicious but let down by a thin square of shortcrust placed on top if it
