La Fortezza in Wakefield

Fell really short of expectations. We had read good reviews and decided to give it a try.The decor, layout and atmosphere were nice inside but then it started going downhill. Took a while for waiters to notice us and take our drinks order. The waiter then took our food order, we only ordered mains on this occasion. It took around an hour for food to arrive.A particular waiter seemed to be getting a lot of food orders wrong of the diners sat around us. When confronted he huffed and went walking off shaking his hands. To the point customers decided to take their food home in takeaway boxes. Staff were not tentative and didn’t ask how our food was. We had to wave to the waitress to get more drinks. When our plates were collected we weren’t asked how was the food and I asked for the bill. This was forgotten to the point we decided to go up to the desk to pay and leaveStaff need to be more attentive to customers, admit when mistakes have been made and provide an overall better service. We won’t be returning sadly

I've been excited to eat here and it met my every expectations. Everything was fresh and mouth watering. The vegetarian pizza was the BEST pizza i've ever had (and i've eaten a lot of pizza). The sauce, base, roast vegetables and pesto were perfect. Staff were super friendly and it was an excellent experience in a stunning location. The final bill pleasantly surprised us for the stunning quality we received. We will definitely be back!

Good food at a reasonable price. Service is good but allows customers time. This is NOT fast food nor aggressive service. Wonderful for the leisurely lunch and the unhurried customer. Food quality is great and worth the wait.

Visited for the first time yesterday, despite warnings about the poor service. This place has so much going for it - lovely location and really pleasant interior design. I can’t comment much on the food because, for me, it was too late to eat it by the time we got served Our table was booked for 8.30pm, food was ordered at 9.10pm - not for the want of trying to get someone to bring us a menu and take our order sooner. The food arrived at the table at 10.40pm! Those who did eat some said the food was good. Wepolitely complained about our experience to the waitress who made every attempt to get the owner/manager to come out and speak to us; but was he was unwilling and left his member to staff to field the complaint - which I thought was inappropriate - especially as it wasn’t the only complaint she was having to field. This isn’t a large restaurant and in my opinion 5 waiting staff should have been adequate but somehow the service delivery was oh so wrong.It’s not an inexpensive place to eat but for me, no matter what the cost, it was a complete waste of money and for that reason I wouldn’t go back, unfortunately. For me, the manager needs to be more visible and take ownership for the failings - not throw your young staff under the bus! Two stars simply for decor and location!

Nice place for eating. The pizza La Fortezza was great. Also spaghetti La Fortezza had a nice taste. Fast serving and good staff. From the parking space you can enter inside La Fortezza in few seconds. I recommend this place

Best Italian I have eaten at period! Grilled chicken with roasted vegetables (sorry wasn't around long enough for a picture! 🤤😋) was to die for... Good selection of dishes and drinks.Having lived in Barnsley for 20+ years I had driven passed La Fortezza hundreds of times and thought, I really should try that place out one day... Well it eventually happened and my only regret is I didn't go sooner! Excellent dining experience and the new extension is a lovely place to dine.If you're looking for somewhere to take your significant other for an occasion or treat I would definitely recommend La Fortezza.

One of the best Italian restaurants myself and my husband have dined in. You can tell the food is all prepared from scratch and it was delicious. Beautiful countryside views. Alex the manager was fantastic with his team. Looking forward to dining here again.

Having read some of the reviews I was expecting the Wow factor which despite the beautiful setting and highly attentive staff for me the wow factor was missing was missing. For me it's all about the Food and on this occasion it was only good (NO WOW) but the small portion sizes and lack of choice compared to previous menu did not reflect the price. SO SADLY ON THIS OCCASION ONLY 3 Stars.

Great food. The new renovation is fantastic. Really spot on location and brilliantly priced!

We had a lovely meal at La Fortezza for our anniversary. The new extension really makes the most of the beautiful surroundings & the food was excellent.
