Great welcome as we arrived for first time. Not booked in but the girl said she had just reset a table which we could have. Excellent prawn cocktail & carvery

We called in yesterday on the off chance of getting a table for two for lunch. However, we were told quite abruptly by a female staff member that nothing was available, despite there being several tables free which were not marked as reserved.We could accept that there was no availability, but the manner in which we were told was unacceptable.

Absolutely beautiful meals had by myself and my partner. Steak and ale pie and the chicken breast with Wensleydale were both delicious! Great service too, thoroughly recommend

Bar busy, service good dispute this. Overall food good although the steak was more medium raw rather than medium rare. Sizzler could have been a bit warmer.

It was too crowded and all the tables are very close together. You basically have to try talk over the conversation next to you and behind you to be able to hear your companion.The food is amazing, can recommend the chicken and the pork. Only issue is when someone orders a prawn sizzler (and many people did) they bring it out actually sizzling, then stand there holding it until it isn't spitting as much. The problem with this is it smells absolutely revolting, like burnt food. It filled the whole place with smoke and steamed up all the windows every time and unfortunately all my clothes and my hair smelt of the smoke! For that reason me and my partner said we would never go back despite how good the food is. Staff weren't very attentive either and seemed to bypass us as much as possible so it took ages to get a drink and the check.

We were a bit late getting onto our table but I think this was due to the previous diners taking their (very sweet) time in finishing up! Great choice of dishes, something for everyone & a good choice of specials too. The food was delicious, everyone in our party of 10 enjoyed what they had. Beautiful building with traditional interior & friendly & helpful staff. Thanks for my birthday meal X ♥️

Three of us went to Blue Bell for a birthday celebration. We all had different meals and all were delicious,. No faults found. Lovely pub with great ambience.
