The Castle in Wakefield

Had Saturday lunch last weekend with a big group of friends, including children and dogs. Staff were incredibly welcoming and helpful, nothing was too much trouble. Food was delicious! Everyone very pleased. Pub had a lovely atmosphere and I’d highly recommend it! Many thanks to all the staff.

We are locals and go at least twice a month, the service is good and the food is very good, nice beers on tap with a big selection of spirits, also the non alcoholic selection is good.if your in the area make a visit you won't be disappointed.

Just returned from a lovely evening at the Castle on Barnsley Road. My friend and I went for some food and a few drinks and we were looked after all evening brilliantly by Leona, who was fantastic. The food was really good, the all-round service excellent and we were surprised at the end of the night how reasonably priced it was. Would definitely recommend for a nice meal and drinks in a warm, friend environment. And thanks to Leona…great service.

Took my husband for the valentines lunch as a surprise. Food was excellent, staff great atmosphere lovely. The only disappointment was they had run out of the chocolate bomb for sweet. They make it in-house and it always sells well so not very organised. Especially when we went valentines day lunch.

First time visited on recommendation from my son and he was spot on. Food was not just well presented but also very tasty, you could tell it was homemade and not from a packet, also very filling and well priced . The staff Hollie Aimee and Emma were extremely friendly and attentive without being pushy, always smiling like they loved their jobs even when not attending to us. Will definitely be back again

I had a table booked for 7-30pm it was very busy and we were told our table was not yet ready. We had a drink at the bar until our table was ready. We ordered our starter and main course, our starters took an age to arrive our mains which arrived at 9 o'clock 2 arrived and we had to wait for the other 2 meals to arrive eventually. By the time we'd ordered desert's and eatern them it was 10-30. The food was very nice, the service left a lot to be desired.

Went there for a celebration with my wife. Ordered a drink and the server spilled it over my leg, we ordered the meal and had to wait 50 minutes for it to arrive. When it did the potatoes were cold and the lamb was raw. On our arrival we ask for a bottle of wine. We were still waiting for it when we left an hour later.Don't go to this place the worst service in the city.

Charlotte was so lovely and welcoming! I was so shocked to hear that she was only covering on the date of my visit! She knew the menu so well and helped me to decide what to have! The food was great thanks to Jodie in the kitchen 💖💖

Beautifully presented food ,went out of there way to help ,dinner was gorgeous and our server hollie was very polite and friendly 😀 Definitely recommend nice atmosphere 👌

Really enjoyed the food here and the place is beautifully decorated and furnished. We sat by the window which looks out onto the bowling green it was lovely.The food was delicious although a little on the expensive side. For example, halloumi fries side is £4.95 I got 6 small fries and I had to ask where the sweet chilli dip was (they didn't have any) but offered sweet chilli mayo instead which was OK.Service was OK although they forgot to get my daughter's drink and we asked for veg stick side for the kids meal and got peas. All in all, great food just a little expensive in my opinion.
