Lovely building located in the heart of Thornes Park, nice selection of ales and some very tasty food on the menu. On this visit I opted for the steak sandwich on sour dough bread. Which was one of the tastiest sandwiches I have ever eaten! Very filling and great value for money.

Very dirty, very outdated. Furniture in dining areas look like old trash. Needs a total revamp. Staff were great, very young, very overworked and probably underpaid for what they do. Toilets are disgusting, old cistern type with pull chain which children cannot reach and the handles were very dirty. We did not see the bedrooms so cannot comment on them. The grounds are lovely

I've given this 3 stars but should be 3.5. Beer garden was very busy however, piles of empty glasses on tables and litter everywhere is partly why I've given this score. Service at the bar was slow but staff were polite. Selection of drinks is good. Didn't eat or stay over. The building is set in lovely parklands.

Beautiful food. Lovely venue catered for our large family meal. Play area outside for the kids. Dog friendly too! Suply of clean water and bowls fir the dogs as well as a cheeky little treats too.

·

Beautiful grounds, lovely hotel, only reason it was not full marks was the shower in our room was broken and would not stay secure in one spot, also not enough water power. Otherwise a lovely place, nice food, good clean really comfortable rooms.

Place looks nice, did not think much to the lunch menu. Chip's arrived, less than half a tub. Been given half portion instead of full portion. There was not much difference. Only went because it was a thank you meal to a small group of us. Would not otherwise have entertained the place.

70 pounds a night wedding till 12 midnight with a young son. Asked politely to turn it down, manager tells me is on the terms and conditions and if I want I can leave thw hotel. Horrible customer service, overpriced. Today they did not clean the room. The restaurant food came our uncooked, and out of a microwave. AVOID AT ALL COSTS. This looks more like you are in a two star resort.

Great place to stay, staff very helpful rooms clean and very quiet may not be as quiet if the have a wedding as there is a marquee In the grounds . Good breakfast with good choices , only thing is it's over 3 floors and no lift but that they cannot have one. Would definitely stay again .

Stayed in room 17 for one night.Receptionist was polite, room was very clean and comfortable. Electric fan was a godsend as it was a pretty muggy night.Only two very minor complaints, sink tap handles felt loose and the light right outside the window (which is barely noticeable with the curtains drawn)

In all honesty I've not been to Holmfield in quite a long time. It really was a place I went regularly. Food value & service was mostly exceptional.I went this evening & staff were quite good. We went with a couple of friends. First time in a long time. And in all honesty I've not missed the place. A friend ordered a steak but wanted new potatoes. ( it came with chips) I had a lasagne ( which was gorgeous) & side extra chips ( was lucky if there was 8 chips) our two other guests had chicken fajitas and it seemed like their dishes were crowded out with peppers & onions and not the usual portions of chicken. I know people will say complain. And in all honesty I normally would. But the time taken to rectify issues really does spoil a meal out with friends. And there was a wedding party of 22 eating too. It didn't appear they had enough staff to cover regular guests & cater correctly for them. My wife asked to switch guacamole for cheese. They charged extra for cheese ( previously just switched for guacamole) they don't knock the money off for guacamole if you dont want it.?!My wife asked for garlic mayo which took an eternity to come so we had to chase it up. She said had asked for it with her meal not when she had finished eating. As said when the large party arrived they seemed less able to cope. But that shouldn't be at the expense of other customers. And equally my friend ordered his meal before they arrived. So no excuse for supplying chips & not new potatoes.Overall its been one of my wife & my favourite place to eat. I appreciate things are risingin cost. But the basics can still be right. And portion sizes ie chips shouldn't be shrunk.I will quite happily pay for quality and its always been quality at a good value price.Tonight wasn't anywhere on the radar of our past visits. Improvements needed.
