Brilliant has always .. staff amazing see you soon went back because so good first few times ,but last time disappointing an hour n we still didn't have our meal even though atleast four tables who came in n ordered got theirs n staff didn't care when told so we left never go again .

Absolutly lovely cooked fish n chips, always enjoy eating in & it's always very clean 👌

We stopped off here on Mother’s Day for fish n chips. We’ve been many times before always been really nice but this particular day wasn’t. They wasn’t even busy there were 4 tables in. Fish was soggy and no taste

I’ve used this establishment before either eating in or takeout. If you are not fussed about the long wait and do bring a good book to read, fish full of bones and cold, disgusting chips and tasteless mushy peas which is also served cold by very rude so-called waitresses, then you’ll not be disappointed.Yesterday I called in for only a fish cake and portion of fish bites and waited 20 minutes only to discover my order went to someone in the restaurant and wondered if I would settle for something else?I

Gutted,we thought we'd found our chippy finally then today was really bad.25 minutes to get out order prioritising just eat and deliveroo. Finally got our order home and the batter was soggy and the amount of undercooked/raw chips was ridiculous. We've had fish and chips here loads of times and always been spot on but today was bad really bad!! People walked in and straight out and people were saying in the shop they wouldn't be back.

Attend Battyes if you have plenty of time on your hands or you just enjoy smelling the Fish and Chips. You could buy your own gear, learn to fish, grow your own tatties and cook it all from home quicker than you’ll be served these days. Been our regular for years but the service is ridiculous in recent months, so I can only assume they go out the back to catch the fish now. Rigor Mortis is quicker….

Went into the restaurant today. One of us ordered fish which looked very nice, two of us ordered steak pie. The pastry was just a soggy mess. I complained to the waitress asking had it been warmed up in a microwave. The waitress replied that she didn't think so, they have it delivered and she thought it was just undercooked!! No apologies, no reduction, nothing. Won't be going again.

Fantastic Fish and Chips, served by genuine down to earth ( real ) people, well worth the journey from YORK, believe me!Thanks to Kayleigh who served me and to the rest of the team. Probably the best we've had.

Amazing the food was really good and it came in a very short time you get a lot of food and you will defently get full the curry was great and the fish is amazing I recommend you going here it's worth it
