Toby Carvery in Wakefield

A great Toby this one. Staff are always friendly and always help with anything they can. Mainly breakfast time when we pay a visit but always good what ever time you go.

Staff were very warming and friendly and were apologetic when they had no tables, we were told we would have to wait 30 minutes for a table due to the bist nature of the evening, but we didn't wait a long while. My guest & I ordered a drink while we waited and spoke to the barman which answered our queries when needed. Once seated we both ordered the carvery so went straight there. Carvery as usual was satisfactory with plenty that can be on the plate. From the table we had ordered some pigs in blankets to which I was highly disappointed in, they was too hard and at points, the bacon was black. We ordered 2 at first but realised after we should have only ordered 1. After finishing the meal, we had asked for the bill and I was surprised that the waiter/waitress didn't tell us about the offer of 50% off the week after. Also, at one point throughout the evening, I did see one of the waitresses rushing round doing her section and clearly she was busy, As someone who worked in the hospitality industry, team work is key, and many staff members I would see walk past and not help, something as easy as clear a table even if they was on their way to kitchen. Another thing is with regards to the offer, you are always looking for custom to come back.Would recommend as Toby carvery's are everywhere so you know what to expect. The staff were polite and friendly at all times, checking to make sure everything was okay and if we needed anything.

Had a carvery lunch, meat was lovely we had turkey, ham and beef all cooked well, the turkey was really good. Good selection of vegetables and meal was enjoyed. The drink and mini pud is great for the smaller appitite. Staff were friendly and helpful. The only thing we noticed was the site inside and out is looking tired, overall though good value.

Went for breakfast today and there was a whole list of things that were wrong. Hash browns tasted of pork/meat. Tomatoes tasted of chemicals, plates were cold and or full of dried on food. Server couldn't be bothered to advise me on the milk alternative and a "don't know" response was provided.If the particular Toby wants to keep customers they really need to up their game or long standing customers will stop going.

Shown to table. Surface was worn and the varnish that was left on was sticky. Meat was lovely but veg was tepid and unappealing. Service was slow to clear plates. One of our party mentioned our concerns and a reduction was made to the bill. Told a refurb was in the pipeline. Definitely needs it. Staff were pleasant though.

The hostess was lovely; friendly and very helpful. I was disappointed by the lack of vegetarian options available. There were four on the menu but only one available. Vegan toad in the hole. However, the sausages weren't cooked very well. I think they had freezer burn. Plus it was two vegan sausages and two large Yorkshire puddings, then help yourself from the vegetables on the carvery. The roast potatoes weren't great and the vegetables were OK. The rest of the party all had the carvery and they weren't impressed either. I wouldn't eat here again.

I had a prawn sandwich which was very nice. Rest of the party had carvery. There was 7 of us it looked lovely and they all enjoyed there meals. Dale was very friendly and helpful. 10/10 Dale

Great food. Tasted amazing. Great Yorkshire's, tasty mash and roasts were spot on. The girl Kirsty serving us was very nice and polite. Only thing that was a negative was the small portion of meat the server gave me. Very tight with the meat. Apart from that it was great.

They do offer vegan options but they are rather limited. With no proper dessert - they have a sorbet but that's it... I would love to see a crumble or something on their menu!

Lovely meal as always stuffed my face and a fab dessert for my little girl will be back
