Akbars in York

Service was terrible food was way to hot. I had butter chicken and my mouth was on fire. They kept us waiting for hour and a half before food was served. Complained but they weren't interested. Will not be going back. The other 10 people said the same. If I could've given half a star I would've...

We went as a group on a Friday evening. It was reasonably busy with a good atmosphere.I almost slipped on the floor twice as it had a layer of grease or something on it.The service was good although to they seemed a little inexperienced at times.Plenty of variety on the menu including a good selection of vegetarian dishes. Overall the food quality was good with fairly distinct flavours and good portion sizes.

Just okay really. The food was nothing special, the big naans are fun. It is good value for money but it wasn't special. The floor was slippy, the staff seemed rushed and distracted. It seems to be a place for big groups, party's. If that's what you're looking for, it's a good spot.

Food absolutely amazing, a couple of miserable waiters, one lovely waiter. Would defijitely recommend. Very reasonable prices

This has to be one of the finest curries I have had the pleasure of eating.The taste was so good, full of flavour. Potion sizes extremely generous and overall a great experience.Myself and my partner really enjoyed our time at Akbar’s. The service was extremely attentive even though the restaurant was busy they still found the time.The price was very reasonable overall I would recommend and look forward to returning in the future. Thank you to the team at Akbar’s.

Awful experience.Having read the reviews of Akbar’s, I was quite excited to try out the restaurant in York.From entering the restaurant, it felt rather basic with oily/slippery floor tiles. The tables were bare, the waiting staff seemed inexperienced and certainly not courteous.When the food came, the pickle platter was served in takeaway plastic containers. When the food came, we had to ask for cutlery- the waiter then put a pile of cutlery on our table. One of the dinner plate was caked in food on its underside.The food was passable but needless to say that franchising of this fine Bradford establishment was executed in an awful manner… only god knows why so many people find this place appealing.. it’s a horrible place and one that my family and I will never be visiting again.

This was our first visit to Akbars York. We were keen not only to have a good dining experience but to also compare against the home of Akbars which is the one in Bradford. And you know what ? It was equally as good. The food was deeeeeliscious !!We had lamb chops and a aubergine in masala sauce for starters .. both superb followed by chicken chilli balti & lamb roshan lal , both were cooked to perfection and very tasty and the chilli heat packed a punch in the balti , our sides were garlic naan and chips.Mint chock chip ice cream for desert.The waiters were really nice and attentive but the stars here were the kitchen staff , absolutely smashed it 👏👏👏
