Burns Hotel in York

Lovely quiet pub with no Digital allowed. Like pubs used to be when we talked to each other face to face. Cheap too.

What can you say against a Sam Smith's in York.... best rum and coke ever!!! Barmaid recognised us from our trip in December when we spent time in The Kingshead and made us feel as welcome. 5 stars for the lovely bar lady.... and 5 for the pub

Nice and unique boozer, traditional beers at a good price.No music, phones and cash only, makes a refreshing change

Gotta praise this pub for doing something very different. Literally no mobile phones or electronic devices allowed. There are clear signs on entry, and when I visited in December 2021 all the patrons were complying. Makes for a really different experience, although I wonder if the pub ever gets busy as a result. But perhaps this is what the regulars enjoy.

Reasonably priced, glasses littered all tables. Not allowed to use a mobile phone even to check e mails. One member of staff on for a busy pub. Weird experience to be honest but it's not too bad.

A Sam Smiths pub so no phones no swearing, no TV, got barred after ten mins, joking a great traditional pub a throw back to the days, when conversation was more important, than Internet.

I go in fairly regular, meet up with friends, a pub for locals but anyone is made welcome. Just don't get your mobile out or you will be in trouble.

It's usually quiet, sometimes the locals can forget no swearing, also no mobiles, no computers that is a big NO NO, but don't blame the barman it's brewery policy.

Excellent Sam Smith's pub in central York. Drinks only establishment where conversation is encouraged and lap top mobiles etc are banned
