Cafe No. 8 in York

This cafe is amazing! The staff went above and beyond to cater for my son who is a vegan. His starter, main and desert were incredible. Hats of to the Chef who used his creative skills to invent a vegan menu with product he had in.My gluten free food was also amazing. I think it was one of the best deserts I have tasted. So many restaurants offer me ice-cream or fruit saladThe staff were extremely helpful and friendly.We will definitely be visiting again when we are next in York.

Had an outstanding meal here - service was friendly and very fast without making you feel rushed, the dishes were excellent, and the venue itself was lovely and intimate. Worth every penny (and not particularly expensive at that).

A really good place to come for top quality food.A limited menu of a few perfectly formed starters, mains and deserts, all carefully crafted on site using top quality ingredients, many of them local.The chefs are great and take their time to hand craft every dish so if you have to wait your turn, don't worry - it will be worth it.Book online to save a space as the bistro is not graced with a lot of space - just 2 small rooms, but that does mean that they can look after every table well.Add this restaurant to your list now!

Lovely restaurant. Very cosy. Great food, especially the vegetarian (and I think vegan) cauliflower meatballs. Absolutely delicious! We're not local so trying to recreate this dish at home it was that good!

We booked a table to have dinner here as there are only some tables, so it's advised. Really laid back atmosphere and having a cosy feeling throughout.We had one waiter and 2 chefs in the kitchen. The waiter was all friendly and chatty. He even told us how to make some aspects of the dishes, which was really nice of him to share.The dishes are beautifully presented like fine dining and just as tasty as they looked. We had the following:Starters - Black Pudding and Beef CarpaccioMains - Belly PorkDessert - Ginger Chocolate Truffle and Banoffee PieThis is definitely worth visiting!

Charming dining with good service. Small and intimate settings with a decent menu selection at reasonable prices. The beef was very good.

We booked in for dinner on Saturday night, and we were amazed at how great it was! Highly recommend for anyone visiting York.We shared the pate starter and it was incredible!For mains we had the rare hanger steak with the most amazing chips, and the grilled lamb steak with creamy mash.Both dishes were absolutely delicious, and everything was fantastic value for money.

We had a wonderful lunch today! I’ve often walked past this restaurant and have been tempted for years! So we decided to give it a try! We didn’t need to book and was able to get a table straight away. The staff were friendly and attentive. We chose a main and dessert each and weren’t disappointed. The food was fresh and steaming, and full of flavour! It was beautifully presented and was so delicious! You can’t fault anything! We will definitely be back again to sample the rest of the menu!!
