Charles XII in York

The garden was nice and relatively clean although we waited for a large amount of time for our drinks after they were taken to the wrong tables several times, other than that the prices are alright for students although not competitive with other pubs, 3/5 stars.

Excellent food and even better service. The staff was very polite and helpful especially Liam would definitely come again!

I work next door and regularly organise large group meals here, the staff are always extremely polite and helpful. There is plenty on the menu for vegetarians and vegans which is handy. The pub has one of the nicest and largest gardens in York so a lovely place in the finer weather.

Asked if we could enter with our dog and not only allowed in but given a very warm greeting. The cask beer was spot on, there was music on but at just the right volume. Busy pub but staff still made time to chat and make a fuss of our dog. Will DEFINITELY be going back here.

Lovely atmosphere both inside and out, lots of parking available too off-road in a private carpark so very accessible. The menu is so hard to choose from as there's lots of options (had the Yorkshire pudding wrap with extra gravy) Very pleasant staff asking if everything was okay and having a chat when bringing drinks to the table. 5* would recommend this pub to anyone local or popping into York for the day.

Great food and atmosphere! Fantastic menu with a great selection, it was hard to pick as it all looked so good! Very well decorated inside plus nice and clean! Definitely will be coming here again.

Reasonably priced food and drink in a nice location with parking. Friendly efficient staff. As it's so close to the university it can get busy during term time on an evening, quiz night for example. Large beer garden with some covered seating though children not welcome after a certain time in the evening. Enjoy!

Val was absolutely fantastic! Very polite, friendly and welcoming. Made sure we had a great experience by checking on us if we needed anything else. Thanks for the nice time we will be delighted to be back! Peter
