Cote Brasserie - York in York

A very nice meal here but the choice was limited as they had run out of fish. Staff were pleasant and efficient. When we got the bill we were only told then that there was an optional service charge but when the bill arrived the service charge had already been added. I presume that I could have asked for it to be removed but I left it as I'm sure everyone else does but it's a bit cheeky to say that it's optional and then add it on anyway.

Some issues with service. Main course arrived while we were just starting the bread and olives. And wine didn't arrive until we asked for it again. It wasn't that busy either.Cote Brasserie in Newcastle is better.

Absolutely fabulous. Having dined in Cote Edinburgh we knew it was the best place to eat. Andrew looked after us really well, very friendly and welcoming. The food was amazing as expected, and Andrew was extremely knowledgeable about the food and wine. We will certainly eat there again the next time we are in York. Highly recommend this place to eat and thanks Andrew for your warm welcome.

Great service and the food was delicious. We had a mix of vegan, vegetarian and will eat everything! The three different breakfasts arrived altogether and were hot. The one thing that stopped the 5 stars, no plant based milk for the vegan cuppa.

Nice looking brasserie with good food and friendly staff, but...WARNING they add 12,5 % "optional (?) gratuity" without asking on your bill! (When leaving the restaurant I found the text in smallest possible font at the bottom of the menu... If this information had been clearly published I would not object, but this way - no!)This is the behaviour of a worst kind tourist trap! Not acceptable!What a pity with an otherwise nice restaurant.

Visited for a meal with family, amazing food and fantastic service. Well priced for the standard of food that you get. The creme brulee was the best I have ever eaten. Will definitely visit again. Thank you for a fantastic feast!!

Fantastic! Having eaten at Norwich and Bournemouth restaurants York has not disappointed the food was excellent the staff wonderful. Can not wait to go back. Really recommend this place. Special thanks to all the wonderful staff especially MALWINA for making us feel welcome.

A lovely restaurant. This french restaurant it very nice place to eat with a lovely atmosphere. They were very accommodating for a party of 8.The quality of food could not be faulted with the highest quality products being used and beautifully cooked too. The calamari was some of the best in York!The Cote burger would be a high suggestion for a main course with perfectly cooked burgers and a good portion of fries to go with it.The waiter and waitress are all very friendly and accommodating.One problem I had when visiting was that because the restaurant was so busy the waiters and waitress forgot how many drinks were ordered and brought out less drinks than there should of been and didn’t bring everyone’s starters out together so had to ask where my starter was before someone went to the kitchen to get it.The restaurant is a perfect place for a romantic meal or just a passing lunch while in town. I would highly recommend.

I was very impressed with the gluten free menu which seems to be 2/3 or the standard menu. I would recommend coming for the fix price as it helps reduce the amount of choice.I had the soup pistou and poulet grille with the summery very mess for dinner.#glutenfree Cote has coeliac UK accreditation so I felt very confident with their option

We enjoyed a nice meal here recently. We often think cote gets underrated and you never really hear anyone talking about going there. I can highly recommend them. The menu is diverse and everything I've ever ordered has been spot on. Would go back anytime.
