A fantastic menu and experience, and one which has improved significantly on the already great foundations over/since lockdown. Each dish and course was delicious and flowed nicely into each other, with some wonderful staples and changes over time as the menu has changed. As it is a blind menu I won't mention which dishes I enjoyed the most, but it was all thoroughly enjoyable - although you should look out for the macarons if they are still on the menu. The wine pairing was always one of Le Cochon Aveugle's strengths, and this has been retained with the renewed focus in their food, and pair beautifully. In addition, last time my partner and I also tried both the wine and soft pairings, sharing both of them, and I highly recommend doing so. They were delicious, experimental and often unexpected. Sometimes the drink from each menu also paired beautifully together in addition to just with the food, making for a continually changing collection of flavours and textures.Le Cochon Aveugle has cemented itself as my favourite restaurant in York.

A fantastic evening. Food of the highest quality, making the most of some superb produce.Service friendly and unpretentious and an excellent wine pairing.

Unbelievable! A fab experience from start to finish. The attention to detail of every tiny element of this evening was incredible. The surprise with each course made it so fun and exciting - with great service and a narrative to make each dish come alive. The food itself has phenomonal flavours that linger and grow in your mouth, and the wine pairing took it to a different level. Exceptional all round... Well done team cochon!

My wife took me here for my birthday sitting at the chefs table and it was fantastic! The wine pairing was very good with some interesting wines for each course, but the non alcoholic pairing was exceptional. This is a restaurant that is experimenting and trying new ideas so be prepared to just roll with the menu and enjoy.Only a matter of time until it gets recognised and starts winning awards.

Beyond incredible experience. Fantastic food, beautifully presented, amazing art and incredibly tasty. Great service and probably in my top 5 of restaurants (and I've been very lucky to go to some incredible ones). Fabulous experience I'll treasure for a long time

Terrible customer serviceI’m writing this review with great sadness. I’ve been to the restaurant many times before with my partner and friends and have recommended to many over the years. We’ve seen the couple who own the business and the business itself flourish and have felt very happy about this. We even supported the business through lockdown by using their home delivery service. I was very excited to be coming back to the physical restaurant tonight to celebrate a good friends 40th birthday.Unfortunately this is not to be the case. After speaking with the owner to confirm our reservation I was informed that the tasting menu does not cater for vegetarians or pescatarians. Only one menu is offered for all guests. Of our party of 4, half can not be catered for. Apparently this is stated clearly, sadly I missed it. Never in my wildest dreams did I think a restaurant of such previous high standards (well any restaurant actually!) would not cater for such a huge part of the population. Upon querying this, as I’ve dined there before with a vegetarian friend, this is a recent change. To add further insult to a terrible situation (we’re due there to surprise my friend in 7 hours from taking the phone call!) we will be charged £50 per head.I’m not unreasonable I understand they have a business to run. I offered a number of what I consider reasonable solutions and to salvage a bad situation. I offered to pay the £200 today and rebook for a different date with meat and fish eating friends. This was instantly dismissed as an option. I was left with only 2. Bring my non meat and fish eating friends to the restaurant regardless or pay £200 for nothing.I was repeatedly told it’s clear on the website and in the t’s and c’s. In all honesty I just did not expect such low standards from this restaurant and as I said before have been catered for in this way in the past.It is also obvious the restaurant have now filled half of our booking via Instagram and in all likelihood will refill the whole booking before this evening. I’ve suggested a refund on my deposit if this is the case. So far zero response which is again a huge disappointment as it took less than a minute to debit my card £200.I’m grateful York has many other great restaurants that accommodate what I’d consider very basic requirements and in fact more complex ones such as my husbands hatred of garlic. Now to find an alternative venue for my friends birthday……..

Unfortunately I cannot share my experience as we will not be able to eat at this restaurant tonight to celebrate a dear friends special birthday...as they no longer cater for Vegetarian or Pescatarians.I have eaten here in the past and had a wonderful Vegetarian meal...such a disappointment. We added this information to our booking request but nobody pointed this out when the booking was confirmed. We are now left £200 out of pocket as they are still charging my friend who made the booking. Despite it appears already filling some of the 4 covers.Perhaps the management will gain a conscience and refund the money? We can only hope!

A superb sensory discovery experience! Unusual and imaginative flavour combinations combined with a rare sophisticated honesty about the food. Prepared with precision, perfection and passion that is evident in the beautiful and delicate detail of every dish. The wines are an educational experience and discovery that greatly enhanced and complimented the food.

This is a hidden gem of a restaurant. The meal is like a jazz piece, great improv and preparation that is the result of great underlying skill. A small place, like an intimate dinner party with a feast of courses on a set menu. You don't get any choice or notice of what the meal is. Not a place for control freaks but if you want to be surprised, challenged and have your taste buds excited. This is the place in York.

Booked a meal for my birthday after being intrigued after Josh's appearance on GBM.The food was amazing, we ate and enjoyed things I'd never dream of ordering myself, the wine pairing was also on point. The whole experience was enjoyable and memorable in a friendly and calm environment.
