Nice old fashioned pub. Drinks priced similar to the rest of york. Friendly staff. Wanted to try the food but alot of food on the menu not available so didn't bother.

Solid pub where you know what you're getting. Good hunky style curry sauce which paired well with both battered potatoes and scampi. Scampi was succulent and juicy, really just left you licking your lips. Lovely staff service too, would recommend.

Local pub for local people only. Food is below par and I accidentally sat I someone’s seat tonight while watching the rugby, (I apologised), only to be told “fuck off” by one of the regulars…. Nice. Won’t be returning any time soon!

Amazing place! The ambience is super, especially with the lack of presence of party-going kids here, you can come in here with your mates and have some serious discussion like gentlemen

Nice place, good atmosphere but late afternoon coupled with the rugby on the Tv and it was just getting a bit leary. We put it down to the valentines weekend as we had witnessed one or two places suffering from customers over indulgence.

Forgot to take a photo which is a shame because the presentation of the food was beautiful. Tasted amazing though. Great flavour and portion sizes. Wonderful friendly atmosphere and very clean. Definatly reccomend you pop in and give the place a try.

Went in there on 19th December and it's a nice pub but I ordered 2 southern comfort and lemonade and was shocked with the price. Asked the barmaid if the price was correct and she said yes. They charged us £2 for a dash of lemonade so £4 for 2 dashes. Complete joke.

Nice friendly pub . Staff really friendly and helpful. Sadly night We went ( Wednesday). Football was on .No food service.. Will definitely pop in on next visit.

Loved it! Busy but the bar has some excellent ciders. The Lilley cider is amazing. Staff seem happy and really quick to serve and clear glasses.

Lucy and all of the staff at the Golden Lion made us feel so welcome, and nothing was too much trouble. Lucy went above and beyond to accommodate us, as we arrived at around 3.15pm and she made us aware we may have to be moved. But luckily we managed to book a table while we were sat there so we could stay. It was so busy that they had to continually turn people away if they hadn't booked. My advice is to book in advanced (especially if they are showing the football that night) to avoid disappointment! The food was really yummy, and drinks were very nice and reasonably priced. We were in a perfect place to watch the football which was the reason we went in in the first place. The staff are amazing and work really hard and are so happy and friendly. Thus set the standard for customer service 10/10
