Friendly and accommodating staff. Amazing food, a huge selection of drinks including countless gins and other spirits. Beautiful building in a perfect location. Will be back again!

·

Good respectable pub grub and a lively atmosphere..the building is beaut too. Have to mention how accommodating the staff were, in particular Ed I think his name was. Pricing is fair and quality is consistent. Would recommend as a safe bet

·

Nice building and good staff, but the place lacks atmosphere. I couldn't quite say why, but it just feels a bit dead inside, even when most tables are taken.I suspect it's because the windows all look on to the side of other buildings, with no way of seeing people outside on the street due to its elevated position, but I'm not sure

Fantastic pub set in an historic building. The room was lovely. Only had a drink but will be back.

·

Lovely meal in a beautiful cosy pub. It was very warm and cosy sat by the fire, while enjoying some wonderful food. The quality of food was great and the prices were good too! Staff were hospitable and very friendly. Lovely lunch out and would definitely eat here again.

Worse food ive ever had. Menu says roast beef sandwich on farmhouse bread with caramalised onion. It came on two slices of wholemeal nomal bread, cold beef and no onion. £8!!!Taps not working in gents toilets, asking to use hand gel.Staff nice. Shame as place looks ok

·

A lovely bar and the two barmen went out of their way to be helpful, even found a special glass for the beer and brought it to the table. Service with a smile, just a little expensive hence the stars

We nipped in for lunch on our arrival in York, my game pie was nice and well filled, my wife's wasn't quite as good, with not a great deal of filling. The staff however were very friendly and attentive. Worth going into for a drink I would say, better places to eat.

·

Not the best experience. Unreasonable price for a sandwich without any side (£7).Fish pie and vegetables (£12.50)Waitress very polite. Quiet place in the town centre.

Great service for food despite it being very busy due to a football match. We felt like we were well taken care of. Fantastic pub nibbles that we had as starters to share and the pies were delicious! Game pie was unfortunately sold out but the others we got were just as good. Big pub with a couple of different rooms so you can go to quieter areas if you wish and people watch the many visitors of York.
