Highwayman Cafe in York

Stopped off for breakfast after an early start to Whitby. The service and food was excellent and very reasonably priced. Will definitely stop there again.

Despite the traffic getting to this cafe on a sunny day, It provides a nice break. Get food at the counter and ask for a toilet token. Food is a reasonable price and staff happy and friendly.

Lovely grub worth every penny and friendly staff

Little cosy cafe tucked in the road between York to Whitby Serves hot food including breakfast with toast and eggs and full English breakfast , hot drinks, cakes , fish and chips and soup. Good food, decent price, comfortable place and pleasant people.

Normally I review pubs But on the way to trial some pubs ( well walking holiday but always part of the planning!) stopped off & have to highly recommend! Really friendly service, great brew & good food choices & as a bonus great clean toilets for customers.

Cafe and takeaway, picnic tables or eat in your car. Well looked after toilets that are free to customers or you pay. Such a useful stop on the A64.

Lovely clean, comfortable and friendly pit stop cafe. Food was lush and they also do a full vegetarian breakfast 😋

Plenty of parking. Friendly staff. They need to fit porches on front and back doors - freezing draught in winter when they are open...Coffee was great, food was very acceptable. Will visit again.

Middle of the road with this, I have being to there toilets, (four stars - could be five star if open 24 hours!) I have never used the cafe, its close to home (25 miles away?) So never been hungry or wanting drinks at the time of visiting! But I'm sure it's decent food or they wouldn't be so busy? If at some point I eat there I will rate again possibly 5 stars we will see!

Excellent old established roadside cafe. No frills but very clean and tidy. Limited range of basics but well cooked and presented, very good value, and served by friendly staff. Seasonal variations. Access to co-located toilets by token free to cafe customers. Well worth breaking your journey here.
