Just back from a fabulous afternoon celebrating my 70th birthday with a fantastic afternoon tea Staff very friendly and helpful. Food more than we could eat and excellent. Had walk around hotel area which looked excellent. Finally lovely photo on way out with doorman thanks to member of staff kindly stepping in to take family photo. Thank you for helping make a fabulous memory for us all. Look forward to visiting again

Had late lunch as part of a Spa package. There was some confusion as they didn't have us on their system but that was sorted after a couple of minutes. Service good. Very Agatha Christie decor. V good food. Not amazing but v good and decent value for money.

Per person £45, very average food, you can probably get them for £20 per person elsewhere.terrible service, unfriendly and unhelpful receptionist.

Lovely food, perhaps staff could have been a little more attentive and welcoming bearing in mind it wasn't busy. Lovely decor and will be booking again

Visited back in July for mine and my Mum's birthday, and on the back of that visit decided to book for our Christmas Day lunch as we enjoyed the meal so much. Our Christmas Dinner was a 5 star experience. The welcome by the doorman, reception and then the restaurant staff was very pleasant. We were seated at a lovely table close to the open kitchen which is a lovely feature of The Rise. Unusually for a Christmas lunch we were not asked to pre-order which I liked and although the menu was fairly limited for this reason there would be something for most people on there and we were happy with the options available. The waiting staff were lovely and attentive without being at all intrusive and happy to answer any questions and have a bit of a chat when time permitted. The atmosphere was great and the food fantastic. My only criticism would be that the sprouts were too hard!We have eaten at several other restaurants for Christmas over the last few years including The Principal last year and The Rise far exceeded our previous experiences. We're looking forward to booking again for next Christmas day (just put the sprouts on a bit earlier next year please!)

A large open plan restaurant, we dined while there were very few people present but even then the noise carried a bit so we could imagine if the restaurant was full it would be very loud. We must say the food was delicious, as vegetarians we selected one of every single vegetarian dish and shared all the food - the sweet potato with pesto was particularly delicious. If we hadn't immediately scoffed our food I might have had a chance to capture a photo! We also had a lovely bartender making cocktails, very knowledgeable. However, one large down side that did impact our evening was the very distinct aroma of fried food that the restaurant had, despite being seated at one of the tables farthest from the kitchen we could still smell the fryer. Perhaps there was an issue with the extraction fan on the particular night we dined? This is really the main reason we would be apprehensive to dine here again.

Nice set up - we enjoyed the live music, had good view of the kitchen (so you can watch food being prepared) and received generally friendly service. The main courses (we had the pork belly and the trout) were tasty but both were quite oily and rich and lacked balance.
