Delicious food & amazing restaurant!Visited here with my family & the staff were so attentive & lovely. The restaurant looks so beautiful, the decor is gorgeous & it’s extremely clean. The food is absolutely amazing, plenty of flavour and something for everyone. You can choose how spicy you would like your food which is perfect. Our 15 month old baby loved every bite & our 11 year old said within minutes of eating that he couldn’t wait to go back again as it was so amazing! Also the ice cream is delicious & some lovely flavours to choose from. We can’t wait to visit again.

Very satisfying food. Had the vegetarian brunch today which consisted of halwa, chickpeas and potato curry. Definitely my go to place for Indian food in York. Great atmosphere inside, perfect for couples, friends and families. Owners and workers are very welcoming and polite. If you like Indian food you have to visit chutnis!

Banging food, got the breakfast, was very filling and tasted amazing, reminded me of Pakistan. Will go again. Staff were amazing, asked how the food was and made sure we were all happy. The interior was decorated very well and had a very cosy look

Hidden gem. We went because of the reviews and were not disappointed. Tasty Asian style food which was flavorful and not too heavy. Great service. They supported us with our baby whilst she ate too. Perfect. Will be back!

Had Kabuli Pulao with chicken (takeaway). Top stars for how it tasted but will have been even better with either lamb or beef meat. Subtle Afghan style minimalist decor inside with the Farsi/Dari song ‘Man Aamadeh am’ playing in the background. For those who know Urdu/Hindi this song is the original version of ‘Dil khoya khoya’. So yes, great atmosphere and friendly staff. If they were to ever introduce Chapli Kebabs and Tikkas, I’m sure a few dozen of us here around York will not have to go to Leeds for those items. Will definitely visit again with family and try some of their other items on their limited(ish) menu. This place was like a breath of fresh air for me and I will love to see them grow. All the very best!Visit 2:Visiting Chutni is like coming home to family. The warm welcoming hosts, true to their origins, always make you feel special. They are passionate about what they do and always eager to improve and bring in more variety. Dare I say their version of the Kabuli Pulao with mouth watering tender soft meat is a much healthier, much less greasy and less salty one of the original recipe. Something you’d expect when it’s cooked at home by loved ones up in the North-western frontiers of Pakistan and Afghanistan. By the way, that was one pleasantly interesting twist on the peri-peri chicken and we quite liked that too. And the girls loved your ice cream. Great hospitality. Genuine folk serving genuine food made with love and care. Bear in mind it takes a while though because it’s not microwaved food. Their decor, ambiance and the melodic Afghan/Pashtun/Iranian music playing in the background, all this make it a pleasant wait. We will be visiting soon for the halwa poori and channa breakfast.

We were visiting York in Dec 21. What a gem we found. The food is freshly prepared, definitely justifying the small menu. Probably some of the best Pakistani cuisine we've had at a restaurant in years.Authentic food and great ambience. After dinner we had a nice chat with the owners while our 3 boys enjoyed the home made ice cream. We'll be coming back next time we are passing through York.

I was craving Pakistani food and as I stepped inside the restaurant, I was welcomed with warmth by the owners. The Ambience, the vibe, and the eclectic theme of the restaurant assured me that I am in for an experience. The food was perfectly balanced with desi spices and love, I ordered peri-peri chicken and a wrap. and got some ice cream as dessert. I shall be coming again. Thank you Chutni. I wish you well on your journey.

Delicious food, amazing people (owners) to have a chat. Went there at the end of July but still remember as a good memory. Will be our first stop if we go to York again.

Absolutely gem of a place.... We were in the local area, and on the way back to London, a quick search and the reviews drew us here.We were seated by Ragnar
yes the Viking named host at an Indian
. But wait
he explained the menu, and we found out that this was a family run business, the main chef being his wife from the north eastern park of Pakistan. The menu was perfect sized, and Ragnar recommended a few things after asking about what type food we were looking for. The biryani was just being cooked, but were recommended the “Ami Kadoo with Nan” (bottle gourd) as the biryani was still being cooked
.. enjoyed that as starters. Also the spice was adjusted to taste. Chicken Biryani was fragrant & flavoursome. Lamb Bhoona was on the bone (with the marrow as a treat)
 amazing food
shame we don’t live close by, highly recommend this place.Amazing to see a small family run place with such a warm welcome, and amazing food!!!Well done to Ragnar & Farhana for venturing into this business, I hope you flourish!!!

The vegetarian option for the breakfast is outstanding! The food was served with great care and a comforting hospitality. On the other hand, for the dinner option, the Palao rice with lamb and the chicken Malai were very good ! The flavour and the spices were balanced accordingly to give a great experience for us :).I would definitely bring friends over for a small gathering and enjoy the food together.
