Love Cheese in York

We visited Love Cheese York whilst on a little getaway. We came here 4 years ago and loved it then.. Due to lockdown too much time has passed and we were excited for another visit. We ate in the cafe and had a selection of 5 cheeses as well at the Italian charcuterie all were amazing. So much so that we couldn't help but buy more to take home with us!

This is a unique ches shop in York with a (secret) garden at the rear where you can enjoy some delicious cheeseboard and drinks. The selection on offer is amazing and the staff know what they selling and will explain in detail every cheese 🧀 they sell in an informative, friendly manner. It is also worth trying the virtual tastings they are great value.

Oh my what a complete and utter delight of a shop! I could've stayed all day. Very helpful and friendly young man was knowledgeable about his products and was able to give concise but fascinating insights about ingredients, sources, history.Tried a few cheeses but loved Black Bomber. Had to try some fresh sourdough with an organic unpasteurised butter. Perfect combination of green meadow freshness with a sweet earthy melt.A must visit, must stay for coffee, must book a tasting.

Extremely knowledgeable on the cheese, nice little cafe area out the back and really enjoyed the experience.

We had a fantastic time at love cheese! Our host was both professional and friendly. He chose our wine and cheese perfectly despite us not being very much help. He has exceptional taste! We could have spent all evening there, and when we did leave we were excited that our expectations had been met. And all so reasonably priced! If you like cheese it is a must. Bon appetite!

We have enjoyed nine Love Cheese virtual tastings since lockdown one and finally made a pilgrimage to the shop itself and the Speakcheesey. We had a brilliant night and the staff were super friendly and helpful. They were excellent at thinking of cheeses that we might not have tried before, and that we might enjoy based on other cheeses we had enjoyed. We had a lovely selection of meats and wines alongside our cheeses, and it was a perfect relaxed evening in York. If Love Cheese ever open a franchise in Glasgow we will be regulars - until then, we will continue to enjoy their virtual tasting and online ordering services. Thank you for bringing us regular packages of joy during the pandemic, and we hope to make another visit to the shop before too long!

I’ve done three online tastings with Love Cheese. Always a brilliant night. Would highly recommend the port and cheese tasting in particular.

Great cheese shop, got some great recommendations from the staff. Nice garden out the back to sit down and enjoy cheese, toasties and drinks.

This is an absolute treasure of a place. Small but delicious menu with a gorgeous garden to sit in. Service was speedy even on a super busy Saturday. They have a lovely looking vegan pizza too which sounded lush.

Had a cheese board with port wine and 5 cheeses in their back garden one early evening, for £19 all in, was just about perfect.Your choice of types of cheeses, a very helpful member of staff, and port and wine which was much better than it needed to be at the price point.Great, and superb value for money.
