I thought there was a good range of gluten free options here and mostly the reviews were positive so thought I would give it a go, especially as it was only a 10 minute walk from my accommodation.Very polite staff, even to the point of setting my napkin out for me. I found it difficult to understand them with the masks and accents (I am partially deaf) and we had a bit of too and fro about how many poppadoms I wanted but it worked out fine. The chicken dish I had was flavoursome and plenty of it. Though my rice seemed quite dry. I liked the little appetiser pickles to go with the poppadoms to start. HOWEVER this was not a complimentary starter, you pay for it as I saw it was added to my end bill. I didn't expect that and wouldn't have had it had I known.Overall it was a pleasant experience and I would return there, though the 2nd time would be make or break.

The best Indian food I've ever had.We stayed in York for one night and called in here for some food between drinks. We wasn't expecting this to beat our usual takeaway. This is hands down the best Indian food I've ever eaten. The service is top notch too. I feel like coming to York again soon, just to visit this place

Called in here by chance and ordered the set 3 course lunch perhaps not expecting too much. We were therefore both surprised and delighted to be presented with the most flavoursome and well cooked Indian meal that we can ever remember. The cooking was superb, the service efficient and unobtrusive, the meal substantial and the bill for 2 people with a medium wine and coffees was a touch under £40. Incredible value for 3 courses and wine. Cannot recommend this place too highly.

A wide and varied selection of dishes, most of which are not to be found on 'standard' Indian restaurant menu. We are glad we booked ahead as it was very busy on a Saturday evening. As a central venue it is convenient but consequently does attract your typical drunken 'lets go for a curry!' Groups! Food was very well prepared though and reasonable value.

After previous really good meals here, my wife and I went with friends Saturday night and although busy they were not rushed off their feet. The lack of proper service was apparent, not asking how the food was, not clearing starter plates away, just dumping food on the table was a let down. My wife had butter chicken which was ok and I had the lamb which was very tough and huge chunks of it, so hard to eat. Our friends both said that theirs was nice but I think they were just being polite as they had booked the place as their boss had said they had to go there. We left a more than decent tip still, but that wasn’t even acknowledged. Overall not great and will go to the Viceroy next time, consistently good there.

A recommendation that proved the cherry on our York visit. Food was fantastic, has to sit at one of, if not the best curry meal I have ever been presented. Staff were lovely and attentive. Thank you.

Slightly disappointing following previous 5 star visits. Think it was probably my fault for choice of dish , which was a bit dry , but chicken was not quite as succulent as it maybe should have been. Will be back , but probably on a tried and trusted dish.

What a great night fantastic service and the food was lovely if you fancy a nice Indian meal that's authentic and not full of artificial colouring highly recommended

+ Delicious Brianni- Disappointing garlic chicken tikka (too dry)- toilets need to be cleaner+ good service- Quite picky about the rez timing. We were not allowed to enter 10 min prior to rez time altho it was half empty+ Reasonable prices with ~£12 per dish and it is quite fulfilling
