Lovely national trust property and I really enjoyed the tour. I liked that the online booking was for the tour - made planning my day much easier. The tour guides were very knowledgeable and I learned a lot. The gardens are smaller than I had imagined but lovely nonetheless. The fragrance of the flowers was incredible.

We had a guided tour here, as it's not open to just walk around. The guide was incredibly informative and happy to answer questions. The rest of the team, who I'm guessing are all volunteers, were fabulous too. From the smiley greeter ladies on the door to the happy troops down in the cafe, everyone seemed genuinely happy to help!We had a cup.of tea and some cake in the cafe then went on our hour long tour.Beautiful house, with an interesting owner. I've been to York many times and have never visited the Treasurers House before, I'm glad it's finally ticked off my list! Thanks guys!

What a revelation, from a small entrance off a cobbled street behind York Minster to a large house that was originally 3! Complete with banqueting Hall, concealed doors, sumptuous bedrooms and chandeliers. The tour was very informative with lots of history about Mr Green who donated the house and its treasures to the National Trust

Really enjoyed our visit here.Though it was early November the small garden was still in bloom. The guide who took us on the tour (approx. 1 hour) was very knowledgeable.Would thoroughly recommend if you are interested in the history of York and the people who have shaped it's past and future.

Fantastic historical site with a twist. The tour guide was great, very knowledgeable, with a few ghost stories thrown in

Tour of the house by a well informed guide. House was renovated & changed by the previous owner whose family had very high social aspirations. Social climbers but giving the house intact shows us exactly how he lived. Particularly beautiful small garden with a fabulous view of the cathedral.

This is definitely worth booking! You get an hour guided tour of this beautiful house. You get to learn so much history and it’s honestly such a nice thing to do in York! The art , architecture within this house is breathtaking! Definitely worth going.

You can only visit this place via pre-booked organised tour. Just six of us in my group, they have lots of tours following each other, but keep the numbers small in each group. Our guide, Noel, was excellent and explained the history of the house as well as giving us details of some of the beautiful furnishing in the rooms. The house in it's current form was created by Frank Green who joined three houses together and lived here from 1897 to 1930. In 1930 he donated the house, and all the contents which he had collected over many years, to the National Trust. His wish was that nothing was changed in the layout of the house, and that wish has by and large been adhered to.The tour lasts one hour, there's something so nice about having some explaining all the features to you rather than having to read from information boards. It helps to bring this place alive.
