Oshibi in York

I went to this restaurant to celebrate the end of my PhD. Unfortunately the food was very overpriced; the portions were too small for what we paid. Though the experience might seem novel, I wasn't sure how long to cook things for and in the end understood that it would be better to eat a dish that was cooked and of a good portion. It was also quite smoky in the restaurant itself because everyone was cooking. I have spent some time in Korean restaurants in Korea and Japan and this wasn’t the authentic experience and taste that I encountered there.

Was visiting York for the weekend with my significant other and wanted to show her something different to what she's used too.Staff were very welcoming on Friday the 21st of January and the atmosphere of the restaurant felt like I was just dining out in someone's dining room which I loved. Much more relaxing than the usual restaurant dining experience. You almost feel at home here.Highly recommend visiting for an evening meal or date night and be sure to book a reservation!I highly recommend you also try the honey butter chicken. We had to fight over the final piece!If I'm ever heading back to York, I will be heading back for more, no questions asked.

Absolutely fantastic! My mum booked here for my birthday lunch as a suprise, and I wasn't disappointed. The laid-back service and atmosphere was lovely. But the food was amazing, definitely worth a visit. I know we will definitely be going back again!

Great food, awesome staff and lovely owners. Went here for a birthday and it was very special. A restaurant with a focus on humanity unlike the big chains who are owned by some hedge fund. Definitely worth checking out.

We where on our last night on a trip to York to see the Christmas market and have a break from the woes in life when idley browsing through places to eat on Google maps looking for something oriental. Having now stumbled upon Oshibi and the wife giving it her approval too we decided to book a table for the evening. Upon arriving it feels like a small family orientated restaurant it's not a huge place but that's half of the appeal the staff where very friendly and good with advice about the meals as naturally you have to choose the grill as why else would you go to such a place? The food was amazing and the whole place had a vibe that we hadn't really felt in a long time and really enjoyed the overall experience just wished we had found it a few nights before so we could of gone a few more times! Thank you Oshibi right up there on one of the best experiences of dining we have had.

Delicious food, the right amount of spicy for us. The food tasted very authentic, the stew looked a little oily from what I’m used too. But overall the food was fabulous and would recommend this little gem in York.

Lovely friendly staff. Great tasting food. Menu is more streamlined than other Korean restaurants I've been to but nothing wrong with this. For the size of restaurant and kitchen it's understandable and is not a negative at all, more just to let people know. The food and the lovely friendly staff are a big reason to visit. If you've never tried Korean before or even if you have go pop in for a different kind of cuisine to the norm

We had Korean BBQ washed down with some Soju and Patbingsu traditional shave ice dessert . Everything was scrumptious and well presented. I definitely recommend

Didn’t go for the bbq as it seemed a little much to try and get 6 people around the little griddle. The friend chicken was great and a massive portion. Fried rice wasn’t my style but everything else was great.

The food was amazing (especially Japchae with Tofu and the Hotteok). They also had lots of vegan options available. The staff were lovely and welcoming. 100% would recommend and definitely will be coming back.
