Just back from a birthday weekend in York. We stopped 2 nights at the Rose & Crown and I can honestly say that we were well looked after. The room was very good and the breakfasts were perfect ... full English ofcourse 😋We also ate twice in the pub & the food was excellent, the large chips are amazing and the pies are quality. It is probably less than 10 mins walk into Yorkand has good parking at the pub, so no need to use the car.

This was the go too place for hand pulled beer when I was growing up. But not now. £4.10 for cloudy pint of Rooster's Yankee is shocking when a cracking pint of it is only £3.90 in the Maltings too. I suppose the fact it calls itself a gastro pub says everything

Worm and friendly staff good food .chips on the large side..rooms could do with double glazing as the street is noisy at night.spacious rooms...full English breakfast

Stayed here a couple of times.lovely rooms and great staff.excellnt value. Good location with only a five minute walk into the centre of York.

I can't comment on the food as we didn't order any.The beer was delicious, very fresh and well kept. I had a pint of Yankee from Rooster Brewery, an American style Pale Ale made by an independent local brewer. The pub itself was welcoming and friendly, with a traditional interior. Service was provided by a very jolly bar lady.

The room was cozy, comfortable and clean. The pub has a warm, traditional feel and the breakfast was excellent. The only negative was the noise from the street that we overlooked; could do with secondary glazing.

Stopped here on 11th Nov. How lucky am I to find this little gem in York. Before booking I had red the reviews which were good and after experiencing this pub I wasn’t let down. When we arrived we had a free car parking space which made our stay much easier has it is really difficult and expensive to park in York. When checking in we was greeted by the lovely manger Jonny. He was very polite, informative and friendly. We had arrived early so our room wasn't quite ready which I wasn’t disappointed about as the email we received mentioned check in was after 4pm.We had a drinks at the bar and Jonny let us know our room was ready. The room was lovely with a large on suite.Very clean and a comfy bed and pillows. We had an evening meal at the bar which was very tasty but beware, the portions are enormous!! but the chips are to die for.Again, breakfast was lovely and large portions. I would definitely return her again. Thank you Jonny and your staff for making our stay in York wonderful
