Great menu, food was fab. Very much comes out as its made so some dishes take quite a while which leads to a bit of a disjointed dinner. Beautiful terrace but inside you hear Kennedys on a Friday which is very lively

Nice enough but was disappointed at the slow service - the tapas dishes came out about 15 minutes apart rather than all at once, and one not at all! Food was ok, but not particularly memorable. Nice atmosphere and the staff were friendly.

First time in a Tapas bar. The service was great and the food very tasty. The dishes I ordered were plentiful and filling. I would go back again and can recommend.

My friend and I came across this place by accident. They were very busy but offered us a table that had been booked by someone else till they arrived (40 minutes).We loved the place, but was unsure what wine we wanted, the bar tender brought us samples so we could taste and make our choice.They offered us an alternative table when the booked guests arrived and we enjoyed a lovely cocktail. The staff were very friendly and helpful.We will definitely book for our next visit as the food looked amazing. Well done boys, keep up the good work.

I visited Sotanos for the first time spontaneously with my partner (heard it was good from a friend) and we both left confident we had found one of the top restaraunt experiences in York.Honestly blown away with the whole offering. From the moody, warm candlelit atmosphere to the skillful service (thanks Connor) who had both informed recommendations and had us belly laughing throughout our visit.Oh, then the food came out... The portions were bountiful and the flavour was perfect. Can't believe how all of the varied tapas were so delicious in their own ways.Fantastic night, superb food, Connor was brilliant. My new hidden gem of York 👌💎

I always come out in York and I've never been in here until recently and I thought it was really good. We got some of the tapas, meat and cheese board as well as some other bits. The food was really good and we did enjoy it. My only negative would be i think for around £15 that we paid for the meat and cheese board it was a small board for the money we paid but maybe thats just me. The vibe in there was great and it will defiantly be somewhere we come back for a few drinks when we are next in York!

Great cocktails to start - the rum & mezcal Old Fashioned, called the Mauru I think? Service was fast, dishes were of excellent quality, and the portion sizes were some of the most generous I've seen in a tapas restaurant in the UK.

Booked online thinking we would get a table down in the basement, which is the nicer environment. However, we were put upstairs. The music was extremely loud and we had to talk really loud considering the noise from other customers also trying to talk over the music.The food was nice which is why I gave them three stars but would have loved to be downstairs where it seemed a lot more romantic and calmer.

Evening in the quiet basement lounge with chilled out music from a DJ. Bit pricey.....large wine and small draught beer £15.

Delicious food and the best customer service I've had in months! The waiter was very attentive and really polite & helpful 😊
