Great place. All the staff were excellent. Heather was extremely accommodating, nothing was too much trouble. Superb breakfast. The room was excellent value for money. Lovely outdoor seating area. The Bay Horse is located just on the outskirts of York within easy reach of the city walls, shops and the market. We will definitely stay there again.

Just spent a few days visiting York. Stayed at the Bay Horse, a little pub come b&b just outside Micklegate. The room was okay.Had contacted them before I booked to make sure they catered for vegans. Was told yes.....Breakfast day 1.... I asked for any milk but cows, sorry none available, so no coffee for me👎Margarine? Sorry none available, so I also left the toast,as it hard going dry. A 'cooked' breakfast arrived, 2 Quorn sausages, undercooked (as in photo) 2x mushrooms, 2x tomatoes, undercooked, both items covered in pepper, a small dish of beans, and an egg, I was not impressed! Scraped the egg off and gave it to my dog...Tried for fruit, mango was overripe, inedible.I left hungry!Day 2.... Asked for oatmilk, AGAIN, was told I hadn't asked for it! Was offered yoghurt 🤮,I politely declined and explained that vegans don't eat it. The waitress then decided to tell me how she's 'nearly' vegan and only eats chicken and fish. I didn't ask for her story, I politely said fish and chicken are animals, and vegans, me incuded, don't eat ANIMALS!Margarine was made available for my toast.I don't really eat baked beans but would have been hungry had I not.Across the road, a Sainsbury's local, plenty vegan items for sale, they knew I was coming 2 months ago, so no excuse!Found a little cafe called Partisan and had cake and coffee, at 9.30 am both days, tasted great, and I would highly recommend! Staff were really pleased to see me return.

·

Nothing wrong to be found with this pub. Nice selection of beers and some live acoustic music on a Friday night. Much nicer than the pub across the road

My wife and I have just stayed at the Bay Horse and cannot fault it at all , nothing was to much trouble. I would definitely recommend to anyone going to York.

·

·

Lovely old pub, friendly staff and nice n quiet on our visit.

·

Amazing little b and b. Nice, old pub feel with friendly staff. The quality of the room was excellent and then there was the famous full English breakfast, which was class! Not far from all the amenities, train station etc.

·

Nice and friendly pub good range of beers but the menu was rather limited to it just being burgers (on the day I went) this does not make it a gastro pub as advertised on one site. I accept the menu does change through the week but I didn't make a return visit during my time in York. For the burger and chips it was, in my opinion over priced.

UPDATED REVIEWThis is a great place, the food is top notch and the ambience is nice. The attention is spot on, you will always have a drink and the waiting times are very reasonable. Moreover, I love when business owners hear their customers. As you can read in my old review below, I wasn't happy at all during my first visit. However, the owner replied to my review, apologized and asked for a second oportunity. I couldn't be happier about giving it a second shot. Superb pub.OLD REVIEWThe staff lacks experience. It took 20 minutes for someone to take our order. Then, it took an extra 10 minutes to get 5 pints. On top of that, they allowed costumers to break the rule of six and to wander around the pub without a facemask. On the positive side, the food looks delicious
