The Fossgate Social in York

Rude unprofessional staff, awful cocktails, dirty establishment.I walked in, asked politely if the amaretto sours was made from Disaronno, they replied no and suggested an alternative so as a change I asked for Espresso martini and where the toilets were. My sister ordered our drinks and the other went to sit down- I don’t know if staff knew that my sister had sat down next to the bar but she heard them mocking us regarding the type of drinks we ordered and that we had asked for where the toilets was- very immature. The espresso martini was awful and too sweet and the red wine was unpleasant too.I don’t ever like giving poor reviews and want to give everyone the benefit of doubt but I think they were incredibly rude and need to be aware of their behaviour. Incredibly disappointing.

Easily, one of the best bars in York! Great drinks selection and always have friendly staff, just make sure you get there early enough to get a seat

Love this place! Licenced premises serving wine and beers - but no handpulled cask beer - and also teas and coffees. Foodwise they are not really doing food at the moment, just a few baked products, but they are hoping to reopen the kitchen at some future point. It's a really cosy, quirky place with exposed brick walls and a woodburner and little curtained alcoves/snugs. There is an upstairs storey but that too is closed, reopening in the busier season. It has a quirky, attractive, outdoor seating area at the back and some seats on the pavement at the front. The red tea was tasty. Would both revisit and recommend.

A friend and I have become regulars and visit midweek for hot chocolate. Last week they ran out of oat milk and a member of staff very kindly went out and got some for us! Awesome to support a small business that goes the extra mile for their customers :) it's really cosy, always quite busy (in a good way) and overall a great atmosphere for socialising

Very friendly and cozy establishment - great selection of draughts as well as excellently made cocktails - we were even made a lovely Old Fashioned, despite it not even being on the menu.Would 100% go again.

Super friendly. Went there several times whilst staying nearby. The staff were great fun. Definitely recommended (as are their Spotify playlists).

Very friendly place as its name is, good for socialising. Staff is cool, the young guy who served me was nice, friendly. Atmosphere is specially social. Not on drinks r good quality but good too. Have nice beer garden in back n seating inside is very relaxing. Overall good to go there

Excellent flat white (better than spring espresso across the street). Friendly staff, good seats out the front for people watching and a small terrace out the back. Decent prices for lager for being on a pedestrianised street and having their own craft beer.
