The Grand Afternoon Tea in York

I booked this afternoon tea as a birthday present - and it was worth every penny.Two adults, a teenager and a baby rocked up and were treated with patience and care. The food was of a high quality, refills were offered without asking, and we were made to feel special - which if we are honest is the reason you book afternoon tea in a place such as this.I will gladly come again, and will be sharing the experience for weeks to come.

Excellent afternoon tea, the staff are extremely friendly and welcoming. The food was exceptional 👌 The restaurant is spotlessly clean. Definitely worth a visit.

Absolutely amazing hotel and lovely afternoon tea

Lovely selection of sandwiches, cakes, desserts, scones and tea. Good service, pleasant surroundings, you get a 2.5 hour slot for your afternoon which is great. Varied menus to suit all dietary requirements.

A great relaxing afternoon tea with a variety of treats.

Definitely not worth it. We were very excited about this, as we wanted celebrate Father's Day here, but just when we sat down at the table, we were told that our daughter didn't have a booking so they may not be able to have her afternoon tea. Even I specifically requested the booking for all of us including her.But the food is poor, considering the price we paid for. We had the Champaign Tea, but for 1 glass of a just normal Champaign is not worth the price. Sandwiches were just ok, nothing really outstanding. Staff (but one waiter) were not particularly the best.To be fair, the best thing was the tea selection ( all very, very good), pastry (overall good) and the glass of a French white I had (way better than the Champaign)There are many other places in York to explore, so we probably won't come back

This was a gift from my brother and my sister-in-law. My husband and I thought it would be lovely to go on Valentine's day. The service was second to none. The staff were very friendly and very attentive and the food and surroundings were perfect. My father worked for a short time in these spatial buildings when it was the railway offices. We took a couple of scones and cakes home for the next day. Thanks so much. I am thinking of buying a voucher for my friend's special birthday.

Nice selection althoughugh a bit OTT and felt as if waitress talked for ages each time we were given something.
