Went for a meal with colleagues after work and one commented that it was the best tapas they'd had outside of Spain. Couldn't disagree, and I've had some pretty enjoyable tapas in the UK.The menu is pretty varied and everything sounded delicious. All of the dishes we had were really tasty, especially the mussels and lamb chops.Allergens were also clearly marked on the menu, which I greatly appreciate being an egg allergy sufferer.Drinks were also great. Colleagues had bottles of a strong, dark version of Estrella and white wine, and seemed to enjoy it. I had a couple of Don Quixote cocktails and would highly recommend them. The meal was finished off with a flight of sherries (we opted for the dry to sweet option) and as a non-sherry drinker it was a great introduction.Service was friendly, attentive and knowledgeable (their staff get a sherry induction when they start so they can advise on which sherries to recommend).Highly recommended.

Excellent food, plenty of choice and lovely staff. Everything cooked to order, but well worth the wait of about 30 to 40 mins for our main dishes that left plenty of time to have a couple of the cold starter dishes and a drink. Staff very knowledgeable about the food and drink that's served.

Best tapas. Nine dishes (probably too many as good portions) Excellent.

They started out as a Sherry bar before adding tapas and paellas so they have a magnificent list of sherries, including flights. The food is fantastic, perfectly cooked. All the staff are friendly and very knowledgeable. Highly recommended.

Tabanco is a little tapas gem that I'm so glad we found! Beautifully decorated inside, spectacular service from the friendly and attentive staff and the food was the best tapas I've ever had. I also loved that there was a small selection of desserts which you don't usually get at tapas restaurants, we shared the 'Burnt Basque cheesecake with sherry soaked raisins' and it was to die for. If it wasn't for the fact we'd eaten so much beforehand we would have had one each. We shared a delicious jug of white sangria and got a very kind complimentary glass of fizz as it was our anniversary. All round brilliant experience here and we will definitely be going back next time we visit York.

What a lovely restaurant, the staff are friendly, provide great service, the food is amazing, great wine and reasonably priced! We also had the benefit of being educated on the sherry of Spain and what a great delight it was too! Definitely worth a visit!

We had Sunday lunch here. Tabanco is a must if you are ever in York. What an amazing meal, simply the best tapas we have ever had and we have eaten a lot of it in the UK and Spain. The taste and flavours were delicious. The staff were very friendly and apologetic for a couple of dishes not being available. The price is also very good value too. We had 9 dishes between the two of us and were both stuffed. Will defo be back next time we are in York.

Wonderful variety of tasty dishes and friendly staff who gave some great suggestions. The squash with feta and the cauliflower were particularly good.

Absolutely delicious. Highly recommended for their tapas and Sherry wine.Staffs are quite friendly when you asked for recommendations and explanations. The restaurant space is a bit tight but overall atmosphere is enjoyable.First restaurant in the UK I’ve seen that’s serving Sherry flights, from fino to oloroso, and even PX. Better to ask for try before ordering, as each are every unique comparing to traditional wine and it’s definitely not for everyone.Nothing I can speak on tapas, just order anything and you’ll finish them all and want to order more.
