The Ship Inn in York

We came in for a drink on a busy Saturday night and the service was just superb. We were made to feel extremely comfortable and they couldn't have done more to make us enjoy our evening.

A really lovely old pub, open fire inside. Authentic low ceilings and beams, stone floor in some places. Pleasant staff. Great to see the open fire with burning logs. Close to the river. Called in here after doing a local walk. Had a couple of warm sandwiches with homemade chips. Really very nice. Slightly pricey but worth every penny. Would definitely come back if in the area. Local to caravanparks and marina.

We had a lovely afternoon to celebrate a family birthday and the staff were so friendly and helpful. Super carvery and we could not have had a nicer experience. Thank you.

we stayed here while visiting York, and it was great! Friendly and very welcoming, the food was especially wonderful. Big thanks to the staff who looked after us, you're amazing and we'll be back!

Lovely venue.. got great potential..Need to sort the carvery out and promote Sunday lunch out .Should be more busy .Also teach the young staff how to answer the phone .( just come along it's never busy on Sundays ).Could be better...But would still go back

Excellent friendly staff good atmosphere however food was dodgy turning customers away at 7.40pm menu limited. Odd choices shame as owner is sitting on a gold mine just needs to up his game. Pricing structure odd. Think the manager was particularly inexperienced so much potential. If you want to stay check prices and menu availability. Web site no where as informative as it should. Such a shame.

Fab stay here, staff were super friendly and accommodated our requests. Lovely rustic feel about the place. We ate both dinner and breakfast here and really enjoyed it the portion were great (go for the fish and chips!).

Lovely beer garden with excellent table service. We didn't have the qr reader app on our phone to order food but this wasn't a problem and the waitress took our order. The food was good and the drinks equally good. A bit of background music to add atmosphere would have been nice. We will definitely return.

I was in a bad time in my life and this was a last minute booking, at almost closing time !!! and they were so nice and helpfull , they accommodated me for two nights although they had already had booking for the second night.but made sure I was able to keep my room by accommodating the other guest with another room WOW !!I'd really like to say a massive thank you to all involved you have been great 💜 food is awesome, I'm also an avid fisherman and the fish here are huge .Thanks very much Shaun 😊

It was nice but I wouldn't go again. My steak was well over cooked. I don't like having to order from my phone on an app. It's a faff especially if there's 4 of you & you want to split the bill etc nice setting though by the river for a drink & a sandwich. Wendy
