Not made to feel welcome and staff are hypocrits. Left stood at the bar whilst people who are clearly locals/regulars are served first despite arriving after me.Also I understand that Sam Smith pubs don't allow phones but a recent attempt to message my wife, who was sat outside as they did not have what she wanted, I was 'ordered' to put my phone away. I dually went outside to speak to my wife and upon my return the barmaid and another customer (probably a local/regular) where openly sending each other messages and showing each other things on each others phones. When I asked if the no phone rule only applied to new customers I was ignored, glared at by a yolkal or two before being abruptly asked 'what do you want?'.Won't be going back and would advise anyone to steer clear if you want a nice time in a nice place!

Cash only bar, arbitrary rules regarding no use of technology inside the pub seems to extend to anything sensible such as an ATM as there are no cash points nearby at all. Some of the bar staff have a really bad attitude and would be better off as door supervisors in a grotty London club than bar staff behind a local pub. Definitely one to miss if you have any viable alternatives... including sitting on a street corner with a can of Super.If HMRC are watching... I'd say you might want to pay this place a visit.

Drink it nice but you won't recommend any of the brand's on tap. As other reviews have said, it's cash only, no mobiles allowed. Staff and owner can make you feel unwelcome.

Nice enough place for a Sam's but in a remote location so not a natural place to drop in for a drink unless you are local. Food served intermittently and nothing special. Can have a pleasant atmosphere if locals are in good sorts.

Called in for food. Unwelcoming atmosphere when got out of the car from the regulars and staff, the barmaid did not know if food was on that evening. Owner said food after 6 this was 5.30pm and told we could try somewhere else. Strange cash only payments taken here why is that??

Excellant Sunday lunch. Best roasters I've had in years. Owners couldn't fo enough.. gluten friendly..

My wife and stepdaughter visited the other day and shown a table in the back section. There was a sign asking people not to stand at the bar, sensible, and tables were well spaced out. It's a nice pub with a modern look from outside with plenty of parking. It is CASH ONLY, so we went to the shop across the road for the atm. I will say the back room was a Tad smelly of old cigarette smoke but not invasive. They do some nice beers and other (usual) drinks.The food I have to say was excellent. I had home-made steak & kidney pie with veg, chips and gravy. The stepdaughter had chicken & leek pie with veg gravy and mash. The wife had a basket of chips with a chicken Burger and side salad. We all had a slice of garlic bread too. The food was excellent, piping hot, hot plates and the pies were stuffed to capacity with filling. Loads of meat in both. I've dropped a star for two reasons, one being the smokey room (open the windows and air it) and wife had a slight issue with her chicken Burger in that it was a thin fillet that had been overcooked and dry and the bun had been microwaved to warm so half way through started to harden. Our gravey was a bit thin too.Room for improvement and sn extra star. Will I be back and recommend. Most definitely. Really nice staff too.
