Large, lively, dog friendly pub close to the railway station and to York City walls. Handpulled cask beers included Snake Hips, Hair Of the Dog and Greene King IPA. Big on their sports so they have televisions. Beer garden.

Great pup with a lovely atmosphere. Johnny the barman is a star, sorted out a customer who was sweating on the phone in a good way and provided a 5* service. Recommended.

·

Typical Greene King food and prices (which are both very reasonable). Dog friendly so got to see several cute dogs. The service is lightning fast and very friendly. Would definitely come back if in the area

Nice pub with good beer selection and average food, we went 3 days and they had no ice.very disappointed

We had booked for a Boxing Day Christmas dinner. I had a missed call earlier in the day, which I hadn't realised was from them. When we arrived to tell them about our reservation they informed us that they had experienced a power cut which had only recently been resolved. This meant they could not provide our Christmas dinner, they were only able to serve burgers with cash payment only. They offered us the first pint on the house. We were understandably disappointed, but decided to stay as it was very close to where we were staying. We were glad we did. The veggie burger was delicious. The bun was brioche style. The generous portion of fries were light and crispy, almost melt in the mouth. The beer also was fantastic. I ordered a pint of Blitzen from the Black Sheep Brewery. It was glorious. Very fresh, very tasty, superbly kept.

My partner & I had a Christmas meal at the Inn, booked last minute which they kindly accepted. The staff were great, friendly & engaging. We arrived an hour & a half early for the meal! it was so cold outside that day, we were close by so we thought even if we sit & wait having a couple of drinks it would be ok. They went out of their way to organise the food for us even that early which we greatly appreciated. What lovely people! The meal was delicious. The meat was tender, the veg was cooked to perfection (very rare we find), nothing over cooked & presented well. The Christmas pudding & custard rounded it off perfectly. Next time in York we will definitely be heading there.

I've been here a few times over the years. It hasn't changed much and could do with a face lift. It's clean, tidy and comfortable enough, and it looks lovely with the Christmas decorations up.The food is pretty standard chain pub food, but the pricing is very reasonable, including for the drinks. They have a decent selection of food and drinks available. There's plenty of seating and it's a comfortable place.I agree with what a few reviewers have said about speakers in every corner being too loud when you're trying to chat and about there being too many separate bar sections.Overall I enjoy going here for food and drink.

Food was okay but nothing special. Like the table service, but our food came before our drinks and had to ask about the drinks twice. Waitress however was nice and friendly and made up for everything else. I would say it's a good place for groups of people!

We called in for a meal on Monday evening and it was really nice. I had the gammon and my wife had hunters chicken. Both meals were tasty, the service was excellent, and the bar staff really polite and professional. We have no problem recommending this pub. It was so nice we returned the next afternoon, for a bar meal and drink. Keep up the good work.

Fantastic place and amazing staff. Food was really good and good portion sizes to have drinks with. Best place with food to drink ratio/costs. £2.99 2 course meal deal with 5 drinks. Add £1 more and get desert. Quality!
