Close to Minster, Museum Gardens, Tourist Information and to Railway Station. Large and spacious with lofty high ceilings. Timothy Taylor Landlord and Boltmaker handpulled cask beer. Ladies loos needed a bit of a tidy. Glass is an unforgiving surface to keep clean, but the large sash windows downstairs were very smeared. I thought menu on the pricier side as most of the mains, bar one at £11.95, were all £12.50 plus. Bangers and mash....£12.50?! Loos are upstairs. Fabulous range of wallpapers in pub. Quite quirky decor, quirky in a good way! Also has good selection of board games to choose from, which you don't see that often in city pubs. Would recommend for a drink but it isn't a place I'd probably opt to eat at due to it's pricing.

Lovely service, ok beer selection, but not the experience or atmosphere that is as promised

(Visited Jul 2021)No food service because……the chef was serving ice cream at another restaurant they owned? Doesn’t seem like good organisation for a Sunday. We went in, was told to go to the Jury’s Lodging or somewhere equally expensive by some guy sat having a drink, then left.

Amazing food, Extremely friendly staff came for New Year’s Eve for drinks and then enjoyed a meal the next day definitely deserves 5 stars.

Great place to come for a drink or something to eat. Booked in with my family and we all enjoyed the food and atmosphere.

We called in as we saw the reviews online were good so we chose to eat here. The pub itself is amazing, great layout lovely decoration. Food was so so they didn't have any beef burgers which was pretty disappointing, as I had to change what I wanted. Had a great array of cocktails really delicious however a bit on the pricey side. We called back around 10 or so in the evening they had karaoke on great atmosphere. Lovely people. If I travel back to York will come here again.

It is quirky place with had posters all over the place. They advise outside that they have Yorkshire pudding wraps and they don't serve it anymore which was very disappointing so instead I had the garlic chicken with hallumi wasnt very nice the outside of the chicken was burnt and they have a werid source all over it and it hard to get into since they was no space to dismantle it. The roast beef that my friend had, he said it was wonderful and my other friend had the veggy mushroom and ale pie which was nice however it was too much with the pound of pie and half a dish of chips.

We stopped in for a gin before heading to the station. Some reviewers call the decor quirky. I would have to agree. Overall, no issues. Friendly staff.

This bar looks amazing! It has a fun and quirky cocktail menu, with loads of group offers as well as huge variety of more standard drinks and pints. Also much more welcoming than the majority of bars in the area and worth a visit just to see how unique and creatively it's decorated.

Quirky pub near the minster.. The place is nice but more for a beer or a drink rather than for dinner. There is no table service and the waiter is very nice but he messed up a few orders. First orders arrived very quickly but the others were very slow. Food is good but not special and the menu is wide and varied (also with veg options) but we would have love to see more pub specials, while there are just the basic one
