Well laid out with clearly marked sections. Great choice of children's books. Upstairs coffee shop.

Waterstones is a great book shop in York for all your reading materials. The shop is clean bright and well maintained making it very easy to find the books you are interested in buying. I like science fiction so I head direct to that section. The staff are very knowledgeable and are pleased to be able to help. A fantastic place full of great reading in either hardback and paperback.

Went with 2 friends for a tea and toasted tea cake really lovely place we sat near window on a comfy sofa and I didn't know you could take a book up to read then buy on way down brilliant

A very good Waterstones and cafe. The historic building helps the experience, but also a more interesting selection of highlights than some other branches.

I love Waterstones. I often go in for a browse but end up buying something, because everything is so tidy, beautifully laid out, it makes you want to stop and look. There is a relaxed atmosphere in their shops, I find, and always someone there to advise you if you need it. I mostly buy books, but have bought games and bags from there too. A great experience.

Books nowadays are selling on the experience that they offer, well this shop offers the experience behind the books! Really well laid out and with an upstairs with a café . Very knowledgeable staff and a great place to spend some time unplugged from devices and considering what books you want to curl up with.

Good shop with lots of choice. The layout makes waiting to pay a bit difficult. The staff were very nice

I lurve a good book shop to browse in. When this store first opened after the original one shut, I found it cramped and claustrophobic by comparison. But have got used to it now and moreover it does have the cafe which tother never had. Very pleasant, affable young man working at the café counter. Hardworking, polite and attentive - he's in the right job. 👍🥇 Nice range of cakes and the tea is loose leaf too. Another gong and smartie point there. 👍🙂 I paid £3.80 for a large Yorkshire mock scone and a pot of Earl Grey loose leaf tea - How reasonable is that?! Lovely cake. Got three cups from the pot, albeit they were small cups. Good views of Coney Street from the window seats, good for working on laptops and a calm atmosphere. Recommended and will deffo revisit.Oooo and it's dog friendly too, at least, there was a lovely lil dawg in on this visit.

Beautifully organised bookshop, every category has its own space, exactly how it should be. The ambience is very relaxing, warm and quiet. Children's section is full of toys and fun things to entertain the little ones when adults want to have some "ALONE TIME". Adorable cafe available on the first floor with affordable prices and nice view on the main street!

A pleasant store with the familiar Waterstones well-stocked shelves with books on every type of subject. A pleasant cafe on the first floor serves light bites, snacks and lovely coffee. This is a nice place to relax and unwind and perhaps a good opportunity to read a few pages from the book you have just purchased.
