Lovely quirky place. The room was very spacious, clean and tidy. The staff were really friendly. The breakfast was delicious. Ideally situated near the swing bridge so central for exploring beautiful Whitby. Would definitely recommend.

Pretty average food for the price. Disturbingly bad piped music and the overly loud clanging of the waiting staff chucking cutlery around as we sat eating was the final straw. Would not recommend especially as we’d eaten amazing food elsewhere in Whitby the previous 2 evenings.

The room was beautiful as we used the room named Resolution. The beds were very comfortable and despite being a pub, we heard no noise! The bathroom was well designed and had all of the essentials. Breakfast the next day was delicious and the owner gave us some advise as we were on a road trip regarding some one the places that we were visiting.

Really lovely beef for the Sunday roast. Some of, of not the best roast beef I've ever had. The tasty of the meal was tasty and plenty of it too. Not the cheapest place about but well worth it. Waiting staff were professional, but friendly. Well done all.

Service and setting were perfect but the food was a disappointment for the price. To charge £25 for a main I would expect it to be top notch but it was lacking any depth of flavour. Also noticed on the menu they’re charging £22 for fried halloumi and broccoli. I just think for those prices you have to justify it - not necessarily with expensive cuts of meat but with quality of cooking.

I've stayed here on numerous occasions and am never disappointed. The hotel itself looks small on the outside but once in its a different story. Whilst the bar is small but really cosy, the resteraunt is spacious and very well decorated. The menu is good, if not a touch on the expensive side but the food is tasty. Breakfast is good although no kippers I noted this time which is a shame and thought maybe smoked haddock might be an appeasement but alas that wasn't on the menu. The rooms are really clean and offer tea and coffee with a flask of milk provided on checking in. No lifts as far as I could make out so bare this in mind if you have heavy luggage or need wheelchair access and facilities. The staff are very helpful and friendly, especially the manager. She was so professional but also down to earth and always willing to help. I really rate this venue highly. It provides everything you would want in whitby plus more. Can't wait to return soon.

Fantastic pub & Hotel, cosy, romantic and great staff. Massive range of drinks rums qnd gins, staff always on hand and willing to help you choose. We stayed in Scoresby room, lovely, clean and the bed was super comfy. Breakfast was great and staff super accommodating as we were almost late 🙈 already re booked for December. Fantastic place if you like historical period stays xx

Had a fantastic meal here so puzzled by the negative review posted recently. My wife and I started with six sumptuous oysters to start. She then had a magnificent fish pie, bursting with flavour, which seemed to contain everything thing fishy in the north sea! I had the pork belly which was cooked perfectly, lots of special little surprises on the plate too. The fries were tasty and the crackling did not prise out your dentures. And for perfection, an awesome sticky toffee pudding. Lots of toffee and cream. Excellent service in an authentic atmosphere.

This is one of our favourite places. An historic coaching inn which has managed to retain its atmosphere. It is quirky and the staff are great. Didn't eat this time but when we do we are never disappointed.

Loved the staff and the hotel in general, breakfast was very nice, only thing that let it down and took away a star was the central heating system only came on around 0700, it needs to be on at night when you return after a long day out, so you can dry items. Great location for Whitby sightseeing, although car parking is away from the hotel, in public unmanned parks either side of the river, 5 to 10 minute walk. And £9 for 24 hours... I would recommend that you stay in this hotel.
