Bombay Spice in York

First time there. Chose off the early evening menu. Food was very nice. Good service, friendly staff.

We are on a trip to the UK from France. We visited the Bombay Spice and can honestly say that it was the best Indian meal we have ever had. The food was excellent as was the service. Only gave 5 stars as we can’t give 10.

It was great to find an Indian restaurant in York open Saturday lunchtime, since most Indian restaurants are only open in the evenings. We had their lunchtime special of any main course with rice or nan bread for £11.95pp. Hubbie had the vegetarian Punjabi Chole with peshwari nan. I had the Vegetable Balti with mushroom pillau rice. The food arrived quickly & the portions were good. Unfortunately we weren't that impressed with the flavour. It was OK. The staff were very friendly & gave us both a whisky on the house. Such a shame the food wasn't better.

Delicious food - well presented and extremely tasty! This restaurant has an extensive menu with lots to choose from. The venue is intimate, wholesome and cosy - perfect for any kind of meetup. I can highly recommend this charming little restaurant.

No Hate But food is terrible. Needed to let people know. Sorry..!!!Both Butter Paneer and Butter Chicken had the exact same gravy (mostly forgivable) and the gravy was so sweet, I couldn't believe my taste buds. Chicken Tikka Masala, Butter Chicken, and Paneer Tikka Masala were so Bad that they made me somewhat like their Chicken Biriyani (which was objectively Horrible). Samosa was stuffed with everything except Potatoes and the stuffing was Bland.The Only two positives were,1. They give lots of Papad (Papodoms) and onions which help you force their food down.2. Onion Bhaji was half decent.Again, no hate just a lot of money wasted and cravings unsatisfied.

Was open on Christmas Day. Tried Lamb Balti, authentic Indian taste, roti decent size of dinner plate, chicken biryani, tasty but a bit dry. Not spicy, probably adapted to local crowd. Got complimentary pappad and a small portion of vegetable curry. Portions would suffice 1 person. Considering price, taste & quantity, would give a 7.

I really wanted to like this place. I promised my girlfriend I find a nice Indian Restaurant. The service couldn't be faulted, they even had zero alcohol beers - but the food just wasn't up to scratch. We left disappointed - looking at other reviews it seemed great, maybe we just didn't get the right night with the kitchen team.

Hands down the BEST Indian restaurant I have ever been to. The staff are so friendly and accommodating, the food is top quality - amazing! We first visited Bombay Spice in 2020 when we visited York for a little getaway, there was no doubt that we were going to come back again this year for our anniversary! Least to say we weren’t disappointed. Thank you :-)

We were visiting York on Halloween weekend and was really pleased to have booked a table here. They have a big menu and a great selection of both vegetarian and non-vegetarian options. The food was very good and superbly prepared. The lamb dish was so well cooked, the meat was tender and full of flavors. The vegetable dish was very tasty and of good potion. The two naans were very good too. The atmosphere was nice and comfortable, and service was very good. We saw lots of ppl coming for takeaway too, so would recommend this if you are in the area and fancy a good curry.

Really delicious meal and good service. We booked a table at 7.00 on a Wednesday night and it was quite busy. The starters, mains and sides were so nice, and clearly freshly cooked.We we were impressed with the choice of unusual choices on the menu, including duck and even some salmon dishes alongside the traditional. Made great value by using Meerkat meals. Highly recommended.
