It was our first time visiting York, and while we were out some local people recommended The Viceroy restaurant, it didn’t disappoint. The good and the service was outstanding. We will definitely return when we come again.

First time back here in nearly 2 years. It did not disappoint. Excellent selection of dishes ranging from a good tikka masala to the new-for-us gingery but spicy lamb adhoric. Family sized sharing nanny breads also a highlight. Would strongly recommend

Food was very nice but felt rushed to eat. I understand people were waiting for table but for the price I been charged, I would liked to enjoy it. We literally spent 1 hour there start to finish.

Well what can I say, me and the hubby were having a quiet night in infront of the Jack The Ripper doc and we decided to have a curry.. well we are glad it was you, the flavours were just fab, the breads to die for and the lime pickle.. spicy nicey. We will we back.

I've been to Indian restaurants all over the world, been to India and had authentic food there, so eating here was a massive disappointment. We didnt want anything too heavy so opted to just have Chicken tikka peices and some biryani. The chicken tikka looked like it had been marinated in spice for all of 2 minutes. No colour to it and zero flavour. Chicken biryani was just as bad. Rice was hard and the peas were like bullets. The sauce that came with it wasn't much better. Complained about the food and got money off so fair play.Wouldn't recommend it . There's much better places to eat in york so do yourself a favour and go somewhere else.

One of the best Asian restaurants in UK I've eaten in. Food is fresh or at least freshly cooked i ain't one to ask about providence. Lamb dishes taste of lamb but have lost that specific smell. Selection is wide prices are fair.

Welcomed with an eye roll, a grunt & a "what do you girls want?". A very aggressive staff member who did not like to be kept waiting. Hairs in the food & a curry that tasted like a tin of tomato soup. Its dated, packed with tables too close together & it wasn't somewhere I would want to return to.

We thought we would try here for a takeaway for a change rather than our usual one, based on the good reviews. I'm sorry but we didn't enjoy it at all. It was cold when it arrived and was very bland, apart from one side dish which had so much salt in it we couldn't eat it. For what it cost we expected better.

Being 60 of Asian descent, to say I had the best curry ever is quite a claim- but true! Asked for home style (desi) lamb curry madras hot and it really delivered. This restaurant is a little on the edge of town, but really worth the small extra effort. Add the Black Horse pub on the other side of the street and you have a perfect evening. Loved it and will be back!
